KY - Joseph McDowell, 28, shot to death, Lexington, 1 Jan 2016

The Fayette County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 28-year-old Joseph Allen McDowell. He was pronounced dead shortly after midnight Saturday at University of Kentucky Hospital.

McDowell had become Lexington's first homicide victim of 2016. The shooting happened early Friday around 5 a.m. on Roosevelt Blvd. off Georgetown Street.

For Wayne Miles and Cassandra Mcdowell, the new year brings back an old pain.

"Still trying to find closure it been a pretty rough year," Miles told WKYT.

One year ago their son Joseph Mcdowell was shot to death in front of his home on Roosevelt Blvd. off Georgetown Street. He was Lexington's first murder victim of 2016.

For the second time, a group of people gathered outside of his home for a vigil, Saturday.
