From his LinkedIn page - looks like he's been out of the military since 2015 after serving 1 year 11 months, Has a bachelor's in Criminal Justice. After the Army he worked as a custodian and an assistant manager in fast food, a caregiver for an elderly family member, most recently an advanced IT student. https://www.linkedin.com/in/justinwcoursey

In Kentucky he has an open court record which involves a female party with the same last name (the female filing against the male). I'm assuming a divorce as the name matches that of his wife. From the case no. I'm thinking it was filed after he went missing but maybe not. Case No. 24-C-00112

Has it been stated why he was driving his grandmother's vehicle (the one found?)

The Finding Justin Coursey facebook page posted that his remains have been found.

I haven't found any "official" sources though.

I can't find any official news of his being located deceased. A Paducah, KY Police Blotter FB page had details, but they are a "content creator" NOT an official LE organization. So without a link to an official LE webpage or posting or a MSM article any information as to his becing deceased should be considered as rumor per the rules here at Websleuths.

Hopefully one of you has some official source documents soon as to where this information came from.

I'm so curious to this. I am local to the area and hike frequently in this national forest. I haven't seen ANY news about human remains found in this area since last year (and these remains were not Justin's...) His obit leads me to believe he killed himself but obviously I'm not sure. I really am interested to see how/where his remains were found because this did not make the news and it should have. Anyone know anything?

Typically LE notifies the media if needed for identification, and in some cases, for public health/safety. If the remains are identifiable (which could include physical markings such as tattos, unique jewelry or wedding bands, dental records, and some form of government ID) and the cause of death is not suspicious LE is under no obligation to alert the media/public as to the findings, only the next of kin.

There were unverified remarks made by family on his obituary page that his remains were found in Utah on 5 Oct 2025.

How sad. Looks like he also lost one of his sons at a young age. My heart hurts for his wife and son.
