For sure i would of called 911 but in the moment..not sure.. she was moving fast. She was high. I would lay bets on that. I have been high too..so no judgement...do not think I listened well in the moment. Moo

The location where this incident occurred is in a rural area of Floyd County.

Folks living in rural areas of Eastern Kentucky are leery of strangers approaching their homes.

They are leery of strangers on account of the drug problem in that region. There have been incidents where drug influenced individuals have invaded or attempted to invade homes thought to be unoccupied when in fact the homes were occupied.

Now consider the fact that in this incident one evening an unknown person approaches the homeowner asking to use their telephone. And at the same time the homeowner also happens to see unknown persons nearby in a vehicle as well.

Now wouldn't you be suspicious if an unknown person comes to your home asking to use the telephone and you also see unknown persons nearby in a vehicle?

How is the homeowner supposed to know that the unknown persons aren't going to rob or invade their home?

I say that the homeowner did the right thing by making a telephone call for an unknown person rather than letting an unknown person inside their home. I can't blame the homeowner of being leery of strangers.

In my opinion, I believe that Kandi was trying to get away from someone and that she was in a frightened state when she approached the homeowner. I don't believe that she was a drug influenced or a mental person at all.
I have not heard she tried to go inside the home but I could have missed that report, it's not on the video, she's in the yard, relatively far away from the home or any people. She yells across the yard asking for the woman to call her mother for her while the unknown men are saying she's crazy.
The weird thing about all that is the homeowner had three young men who had followed Kandi to that house in their truck, who were allegedly unknown to the homeowner, as well, they were right up on her and she never asked them to leave and there were no unkind words said to them.
If I were afraid of a home invasion, I would get rid of the young men with a truck before suspecting the frightened girl. jmo

The young men were coherent
..she was not

Right, if I'm reacting to my fear that this is possibly a home invasion, coherance isn't going to make me trust three unknown men with a truck.

If the lady at the home was frightened by Kandi or the guys or all of them and the entire situation, my logical reasoning skills tell me she would have immediately dialed 911. She didn't. Instead she spent quite a bit of time (which are precious moments when in a potentially dangerous, somewhat scary situation) looking for, fussing and yelling at Kandi prior to calling Kandi's mom. IMO, it's evident in the video this was not a scary situation for the woman or the others (besides Kandi) who were there that day. To my knowledge, none of them called 911. Not one person. Human instinct is to run away from danger. I've only seen one person running away in that video.
IJS MOO IMO ETC ETC ETC

Yes, the homeowner just straight up believed the boys saying she was "crazy". She didn't once think that the boys and the truck could be the source of the trouble. She didn't appear questioning or scared or asked them to all leave her property.
She could've ignored the boys and tried to calm Kandi down, or spoke to her softly, told her it's alright. It's easy to see things in hindsight, but this woman didn't really help the situation.
For all she knew, the boys could have had a gun and been threatening Kandi.....and who's to say they may have threatened the homeowner too?
Kamdi was distressed and unarmed. The boys were following her like she was a frightened rabbit, and the homeowner made it worse IMO.

The young men were coherent
..she was not
The fact she was not coherent should've been a major concern, and help should've been forthcoming to ascertain the reason why.....

Did Kandi not know anyone in a radius around her home? In an emergency, I have run directly to the neighbors house that I knew.
Are the woods between this neighbors house and Kandi’s?

Has Kandi ever exhibited this kind of behavior previously?

What was going on in her life prior to her disappearance?

Did the homeowner know the boys in the truck?

Need to clarify, the woman on the video was not the homeowner. My understanding is she was at the home doing something that day and the homeowners were not there.
The boys had an encounter with Kandi at another house where they were working and followed her. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Does she have history of hard drugs? Those will make you nuts. So many tweakers around. She likely needed help. I had to call a family member before. I do not think she will return with that state.

Well around here in Eastern Kentucky Meth is a huge problem right now.... Also I find it very suspicious that the "boys" followed her... Really not sure what your mind set is on meth, and everyone is different on that it seems. Someone has done something to her, or she would of been home by now. Around here everyone is so trusting mostly, and doesn't suspect anything bad can happen. Things are starting to get bad around here though there has been a lot of murders recently. Hmm you know I watch the ID Channel , and documentaries about cases! Maybe i am paranoid but, if boys was following a disoriented women i would tell them to leave, and try to coax her inside. She just seemed out of it, and its just all so very troubling to see the video. Everyone is so in their phones these days they rather film it, and not get involved with it. When she wanted her mom It seems to be she was a bit distressed, and in a way asking for help? Its basically a puzzle, but if you could talk to everyone involved I think it could be solved. <modsnip> I am not sure shes alive its not looking very positive!

If I'm honest, I don't think she's alive. But, I hope they find her remains in the forest she ran into. At least that way, hopefully she'll have died of natural causes and not be tormented anymore.
However, I hope I'm wrong, as it'd be reasonably easy to find your way to a road, listening for distant cars, wouldn't it? I'm unsure how big that forest is, and SAR didn't find her in there, despite finding a scent.
So, there is hope.

Who or what terrified her? Enough to run without her shoes or even her phone?

I have wondered what had transpired when the boys encountered Kandi and if they even knew her in the first place.

It also has me questioning which situations transpired when Kandi encountered the boys.

Were the boys traveling in a vehicle when they first saw Kandi and decided to get their jollies by following, bullying, and taunting Kandi?

Or were the boys at another house nearby when they saw or encountered Kandi?

Either way I do find it very suspicious that the boys had followed Kandi.

Where were these “boys”? Riding down the street or at another house?
Are they teenagers or adults?
I’d heard different stories so it’s hard to discern.
Did Kandi run up to them asking for help?
Was she running from someone? Or did she perceive danger (real to her) and just take off?

Yes, I'm confused about this too. Are the men that are heard in the video the same "teenagers" or "boys" that were supposedly taunting Kandi? If so, that paints a different picture than what I had in mind but makes more sense, actually.

Are we allowed to discuss the extended video that's on YouTube? Because the guy on there says that the three boys were on a moped not in a truck. And the lady on the phone clearly tells her that she's trying to help her but she needs her to tell her what's wrong, and then she runs off towards the creek and a guy says "hey there's snakes down there."

Everything you say is correct as far as I know.

I've seen the long version and I don't think it is any better, the lady may have said the words "I'm trying to help you", but the tone says otherwise, same with the "boys", the tone in the way he says "hey there's snakes down there" after saying she's crazy sounds like taunting to me, not someone showing concern.
I haven't heard they were on a moped but I hope you mean 3 mopeds because they aren't little boys. I've only heard they were in a truck
