Still a lot of questions here...where were these remains found? Out in the wilderness? In a building? What do they think happened to her? How did BH die?

Prayers for her family and loved ones, and especially for the little two year-old boy who will grow up without either of his parents. So very sad. :(

‘She made the world turn’: Makayla Collett remembered (wymt.com)
”Just months after she went missing, they found my big brother, Ben H, dead, the father of the child,” Chris said.

[...]

”They were the greatest parents ever. Makayla done everything she could, and my brother done everything he could. Couldn’t ask for a better father than my brother or a better mother than Makayla,” Hoskins added.

[...]

Rest peacefully, Makayla and Ben.

Are Makayla and Ben's (Eddie B Hoskins) deaths related? How odd?

I’m local to his case and I didn’t hear about it until a few months back. When I met Makayla’s father. It’s so sad this family still don’t have answers.

mlhenn posted this article in the Robert Estep thread, but since Makayla is also mentioned in this article (as a possibility of 5 people to be ruled our after a skull was found) I thought I'd bring it over here too:

<snipped and BBM>
"Due to proximity of the location, the remains may belong to the first person reported missing in Clay County over the last five years.

In the spring of 2016, Angela Smith, 30, a resident of Little Creek, was last seen on Easter at her home. Smith’s home was in the vicinity of the location where the remains were found.

A few months later Cecil Burkhart, 30, was reported missing from the Teges Creek area at Oneida.

Four years later on October 22, 2020, David Campbell, 49, of Big Creek, was last seen walking on the roadway near his home.

Two days later, 21-year-old Makayla Collett, was reported missing from the Middle Fork area of Leslie County on Ky. 66 at Red Bird.

On December 15, 2020, Robert “Bob” Estep, 69, left his home to go deer hunting off Ky. 149 at Hector and was never heard from again.

Coroner gives update on human remains found

IMO, an AMAZING lack of mention regarding this case (and others) -- no cause of death, let alone WHO might have caused it!

According to post just above, SOLVED means IDed the remains -- no need to pursue further...

Does he think they're still 'working' the case?

What does HE think happened?

Any local grudges, drugs, etc?

Yes, they are still working the case.
Makayla’s father thinks she was murdered, because she knew or seen something she shouldn’t have. Makayla’s father has told me what he believes to be the events leading up to her disappearance. Makayla had given two brothers and a childhood friend of hers a ride. They were the last ones to see her alive.

Makayla’s dad stated to me that the morning that Makayla had picked up one of the brothers from a trap house.
He father said that Makayla had had a big argument with child hood over one of the brothers. The father is convinced that he knows who did it. However no one will come forward out of fear.
The family is still waiting DNA results from a body that was discovered in a mother county.

Thanks for your comments...sounds like the whole area is involved with drugs in one way or another...some involuntarily.

The area where she went missing is definitely not a good area. I’m definitely going to do some more research, because I believe there are other missing people and one that is dead that is connected to this.
