December 2017:

Man charged in brutal 2015 murder accepts plea deal

Just hours after his daughter's killer Todd Byrd signed off on a plea deal, Jack Hassler explained his decision to avoid trial.

"That would have been horrible because they would have had to drag out all the evidence and that wasn't going to be anything good," Hassler told WLKY Wednesday evening.

Byrd, 48, received 30 years for murder, 30 for kidnapping, and 20 for robbery. The sentences will run at the same time.

"I feel as good as I can. Satisfaction? No. He needed to be treated as brutally as he treated my kid. No, I'll never be satisfied but I'll be OK," Hassler said.
