Kentucky mom forced daughter to stay in dog cage for days, police say

Sheila Mann is accused of forcing her 10-year-old daughter to stay in a dog kennel along with strangling her. She's in the Madison County Detention Center.

Police in Richmond say Sheila Mann is facing several charges, including strangulation, criminal abuse and unlawful imprisonment.

WKYT spoke to Sheila Mann from jail, who denies the allegations. She said it stems from a misunderstanding and a situation in Georgetown where she was the actual victim. She said her daughter was not forced to stay in a dog kennel.

“No, that’s not true. That’s not true at all,” Mann said from jail. “I have never done anything like that. I have always had a job with caretaking.”

Police say the 10-year-old is now staying with foster parents.
