Found Safe KY - Nicholas & Lauren, 20s, Red River Gorge, 17 Dec 2017

The Wolfe County Search & Rescue Team says they were contacted about 8:30 p.m. Sunday by the mother of one of the hikers who told them her son and his girlfriend should have been finished with their hike by noon and returned to Indiana by 6 p.m. The couple are in their 20s; the man is named Nicholas and the woman's name is Lauren.

The rescue group says the couple's vehicle was found at the Bison Way Trail head. A quick search was conducted by the Menifee County Search & Rescue Team in the Indian Staircase area but no one was found.

Rescue groups are launching a wider search this morning.

The search and rescue team says they made contact with the two hikers. Both are safe. The hikers said there was a miscommunication with a family member.
