More perplexing: initially Ray's wife reported to authorities that they had flown in the day before he disappeared. They had been driving around in the rental car for a month.

What? I certainly hope that is a misunderstanding of facts, or we have a whole different type of case to look at here.....

I see from the that Ray’s son is on his way to Paducah to meet with LE and find his dad.

I found this quote in an article by the San Jose Mercury. So it appears that she did report Ray and the car missing the same day, not the next day as it appeared in a different article. To her credit, she asked for a Silver Alert, but apparently didn’t make his impairment clear enough to LE when questioned. Perhaps he hasn’t been officially diagnosed with dementia, although others knew he had been dealing with it for some time. It’s a fact that family does tend to minimize and excuse what is happening to their loved one for several years. I did this with my Mom.

Massac County Sheriff Ted Holder told this news organization Monday that Taliaferro was reported missing on the morning of Nov. 10 by his wife, and an alert to be on the lookout for the car he may have been driving was sent out to nearby agencies.

Taliaferro’s wife asked the sheriff’s office that day to issue a “Silver Alert,” a much wider notification system similar to an Amber Alert, used when people with Alzheimer’s or dementia are missing.

However, Holder said Taliaferro’s wife only described him to authorities as someone who is forgetful at times, not someone with a diagnosed memory disorder, so only the alert on the car was issued.

Hopefully the FBI is reviewing his financial records - that should tell us alot. Why am I starting to get the impression that Ray won't be the only one missing in the near future?

WHY, at age 79 and supposedly suffering from dementia would he be taken away from his beautiful home, the community that loves him, and everything that is familiar to him?

Ray was last seen at the church (328 S 28th Street) per the reports given. From the church address mapquest said one mile. Who knows which direction he headed when leaving the church.

None of this is good. So sad.

Having listened to the interview, all of this is so sketchy, especially his wife being in Chicago and coming to speak with investigators the next day (Nov 26). What was she doing from Nov 10 until then? Why was she not posting fliers and appearing on TV? Who is this woman? Her identity seems to have been scrubbed from the internet or at least be beyond my sleuthing skills.

It’s interesting that his colleagues weren’t aware he had kids. He had said he had none, but he had several. Thank goodness the music director was able to find his son on FB and communicate his concerns, even before knowing Ray was missing. And thank goodness his son is on the scene now. But how tragic for him if it turns out to be Ray’s body they have found.
