Found Deceased KY - Regina Payne, 59, & Bonnie Mayes, 80, drove to Owensboro, didn't arrive back to the nursing home in Calhoun, 22 Jul 2023

Missing: Regina Payne 59 year old female from Calhoun and Bonnie Mayes 80 year old female from Calhoun. Last known location was at 12:02 am this date (7/22/2023) at Sonic in Owensboro.

They were supposed to then go back to Riverside Manor in Calhoun but never arrived. The women were in a Black 2010 Toyota Highlander KY plate 278NHM.

If seen call dispatch at 270-273-3551 or 911.

Our deputies, fire departments, dispatchers, and citizens have been and will continue to be searching. We are praying for safety for these ladies.

Most of us know them personally so we will continue to do everything we can to find them.

Here's a map showing Owensboro and Calhoun. The area I marked in black pen is Webster County, where police got the last ping off Regina Payne's phone.

Weird that they drove to Sonic at night, arriving at 12.02 a.m., right? Why so late? Did everything seem normal on the CCTV footage at Sonic, I wonder?

Wonder if they were meeting someone there? And the phone pinging in the next county over... carjacked? I'm not familiar with the area and it's general safety. Hope they just got disoriented in the dark and turned off the road, waiting for help.

Regina posted pictures of mom enjoying her burger almost an hour and a 1/2 after the stop at Sonic. She may have been just driving around trying to calm her down. I really hope law enforcement has followed a possible route they could have taken and are looking for signs they may have run off the road. I hope they find them safely and soon!

Sonic Owensboro seems to close around 11 to 12 P.M..
I notice over on W Parrish Ave, Owensboro, there are
a number of other food establishments, for instance
Taco Bell that closes about 3 A.M.. Drive west from
that area and it would put you onto roads that connect
onto the Audubon Parkway, and keep driving west
and you can connect onto the I-69, which goes south
through Webster County. Dense, forest cover occurs
close to the road, but most of the road is W-Beam
roadside barriered. Guess they'll be checking the places
where the barrier isn't present. If you got off the I-69,
say east of Sebree or east of Slaughters, intending to
head to Calhoun, there's good country paved road,
still with close forest but without the barrier, e.g.

Kimbra says her mother and grandmother took frequent trips deom Bonnie’s home at the Riverside Manor nursing home in Calhoun to Owensboro.

“It was very normal,” Kimbra said. “My grandmother has dementia, and, so, her spells tend to happen late at night. So, my mom would go to the nursing home to calm her down. This was not the first or even the second time that they had ran to Owensboro for late night snacks. It wasn’t out of the ordinary.”

The Sonic employee named Wolfgang Burkhart who served Regina and Bonnie was not available to speak on camera, but said the women arrived and ordered just before Sonic closed.

Burkhart says that nothing was out of the ordinary.

That part of the world is pretty flat. If they were in a ditch, someone driving by most likely would have seen them.

If this report is accurate - they were going back to Riverside, not somewhere else - there is no reason for them to be in Webster County, and they would have been home at least by 1 AM.

Search underway for missing McLean County women

Authorities say the women were last seen in Owensboro on Friday, and that they never made it back to Calhoun.

Owensboro Police release statement on missing McLean County women

Authorities say mother-and-daughter Bonnie Mayes and Regina Payne failed to return home after eating at Sonic in Owensboro on July 21.

OPD’s full statement can be read below:

"On July 22, 2023 Officers received information that a McLean County resident and her mother had not returned home to McLean County as expected. It was determined that the two individuals left an assisted living home in McLean County, briefly dined at an Owensboro restaurant, then left the city. There was no evidence to indicate the individuals were under duress while in Owensboro. During the investigation, Detectives worked with and traveled to neighboring jurisdictions in an attempt to locate the missing persons. Based upon cell phone records obtained by Owensboro Police Department Detectives, after leaving Owensboro the missing persons cell phones pinged in Webster County, KY. Owensboro Police Department Detectives are currently in Webster County assisting agencies in charge of the search."
