Just because the phone conversation to her mom (from whatever seat SS was in) was positive doesn't mean that things won't get ugly later on. Maybe they did a little cruising after the bar on the way to the residence.... maybe two males ended up in the back with her while they were "cruising"...Did they release the vehicle yet? Loose threads or hair torn from the roots may indicate a struggle......
I'm not even sure the phone call was positive. Mom thought she upset he daughter. SS hung upon her. I am wondering if the men wanted her to call back and seem ok then adding she would be home in the AM. Otherwise after the hang up Mom may have worried and the men may have thought she would call police. JMO

I do know a couple of people who routinely use FaceTime for phone calls. They just prefer to be able to see the person they're talking to. (As opposed to people like me, who prefer not to use the phone at all :D ) So maybe that's just their habit.

I dunno. I'm inclined to something happening that caused her to storm out of the house (probably while her judgement was impaired), and she succumbed to winter conditions.

Sure, but as others pointed out, why FaceTime? If there was some kind of trouble, risking seeing their own faces seems like such a sloppy move.

I'm not completely dismissive of foul play. I just think that even the dumbest of criminals would go through some effort to hide their identities.
The men may not have realized she used Facetime and when they did it was to late. One man was driving and the mom said there was a lot of shouting going on so maybe like us, they hadn't given it a thought. I don't know what the answer is. I'm just tryng to thing of an answer to the question you asked.

Hi, I am a long time lurker and just made an account to post. I have been talking to Savannah’s aunt through the missing Savannah page. How do I help her become a verified insider on here? Does anyone know how we can help the family get her Facebook page taken down so the comments stop? They are traumatizing the family and Facebook won’t do anything about it.
Frankly I would leave it, might eventually get a clue from it .

I predict that there will be arrests within a week or two. LE are just tidying up the paperwork and trying to locate her body. The simplest explanation is right most of the time.
I wouldn't be surprised. I think the heat is turning up and one can only dance around the flames for so before it becomes unbearable. Especially for those not involved directly but know something.

I think the FT was a normal thing for them to do. I don’t think S was trying to get any message or signal to her mom. If so, she could have said “I need help”. If S needed any assistance or had any concerns, she could have easily received assistance when she left the bar. Even a scream would have alerted someone. Too many people in that area after bars close. And police! Jmo

The case was featured on Inside Edition again this afternoon. Idk why they use the old pix. I could have picked her up hitchhiking & would not ever know she was the missing SS? Moo

Missing woman's family tries to focus on happy memories on her birthday

Tuesday is another difficult day for the family of a Madison County woman. Savannah Spurlock would be celebrating her 23rd birthday with her family, but that is not happening as she remains missing.

For many years, February 5 was a great day for Ellen Spurlock. 23 years ago, she had a daughter, Savannah, and this was always a day worth celebrating. This year, no one is celebrating.

"Being it her birthday today, I'm trying to focus on happy memories of her," said Ellen.

[...]
Awe, that is so sad. Happy Birthday, Savannah. I'm holding out hope, just for your Mom, that you still might be out there somewhere alive and make it back home.

I get that sense of desperation from LE that I got during Crystal Rogers case. I think they have a pretty good idea what happened but I think they’re desperate to find her body. It’s been over 3 years since Crystal’s been missing and the commonwealth’s atty has made it pretty clear that he won’t prosecute without her body (unless there’s a confession) even though they have an overwhelming amount of circumstantial evidence. I have a feeling the same thing will happen here.

Just from following past cases around the state, I do think they’ll release the names soon. It seems like there’s usually an information dump around the 6 week mark to the media.

This bothers me so much. Right now, Illinois is prosecuting a case with no body. I feel like if Crystal had gone missing in a town that size in Illinois, Houck would be standing trial. I hate to see this time and again in Kentucky, even when the evidence is overwhelming.

I think parents use FT more than most because they and their children can actually see on another. If fear came into play it could have been once inside the car. The bar atmosphere tends to lull one into a false sense of security, fun, and freedom. If fear crept it I think it may have come once in the car and realizing she did not know these men. The may have tried to keep the atmosphere going until they reached the country areas or maybe even the house. I wouldn't be surprised if SS tried to hide fear hoping all would be well. It's a very odd line one can walk even in potentially dangerous situations. You don't want to embarrass yourself by over reacting so you placate yourself that everything is fine. I have been in many positions (not the bar seen or dating) where a choice I made and felt confident in suddenly it hit me and a chill went down my spine and I wondered what I could have ever been thinking. But who knows in this case.

I agree. It’s disgusting. Not only did LE presume she was dead, but they’ve also publicly stated that they believe he had something to do with it. There’s just so much reasonable doubt between him and his brother and no way to actually know whether one, or both, were responsible for what happened to her. They couldn’t get past a grand jury pretty early on and now they can’t get back in front of one. If something bad happened to SS and the guys she was last with had something to do with it, I worry that her case will be stonewalled just like Crystals if they can’t find her body.

I think, for now, it's probably just 3 total. I don't trust what her mom saw or didn't see, mostly because she said she wasn't sure what she saw on the facetime. I think there was one guy driving with SS and another male in the back. The truck was following.

I believe that Mom was so focused on SS not being home when she said she would, Mom needed her vehicle that very next morning and she probably knew at that point that it wasn't coming home and had no clue where it was, SS was intoxicated, and Mom was likely a big ole mix of worried, sleepy, frustrated, had to get the other child up for school in a few hours, and she just didn't think to zone in on those around SS in the vehicle. I'd guess, that SS's mother, didn't think that was the last time she may talk/see her, so she wasn't scanning for clues about the vehicle, or the other riders, jmo. She may have asked, Where on earth are you going at 3:00 a.m.?! and gotten an answer, It's all good! Don't worry! (or something similar). Edit; I think I jumped off the wrong post, but ya'll get the picture.

I think an arrest is imminent, too.

I agree! It’s not natural to be hyper aware until you’re in a position that teaches you to be. My husband’s gpa is retired LE and spent time as a private investigator. When my husband was young, he would drive around with his gpa while he was doing whatever private investigators do. Because of that, my husband notices EVERY THING. I’m the exact opposite lol I didn’t start becoming more aware of my surroundings until I was in a situation that kind of made me realize I needed to be more observant of what happens around me.

Tryin to remember if Herrington Lake was searched or if just discussed? OR her phone was pinged there.
@rsd1200 do you know?

I've not heard that Herrington has been searched. That lake is very deep too, over 200' in places. I think it's one of, or the deepest, in the state. It's very brushy too. There's marinas near both bridges though but they'd be vacant at night, during Jan. Kennedy Bridge is nearly 300' deep under it. If I were searching that lake, that's where I'd search, but it would prob take divers.

I Agree. If mom was concerned, why didn’t she call 911! I’m sure her BP soared when she realized S was in a car with strange men.

Maybe this was the usual behavior? IMO!

The phone staying on until 8:30am is crazy if the plan was to do her harm. You would think they would have grabbed it from her and turned it off. I hope that the few of you guessing an arrest or arrests are imminent are correct. MOO

Was her mom caring for a child? Did Savannah have custody?
