I still am keeping the faith that before Toney Wade has to leave he WILL find Savannah just like he found Emily on the last day.
I was reading on fb that these fellows are searching on their own dime now. I wonder if more $$ would have kept them there longer? Too bad the town couldn't get somebody to rally the troops and support these guys with a fund raiser. They are worth gold!
I also wonder if they have been even close to finding her.

That is why I said that the phone call with her mother was confounding. As a parent I would have said, "get your 🤬🤬🤬 home now" and SS (or my child) may well have blown me off. Nonetheless as a parent I would be deeply troubled by a 22 year old daughter who had glibly put herself in that situation.

We have no true firm account of the phone call(s) IMHO.
Respectfully replying in general as I have seen your retrospection. I completely understand gut reaction. But one thing I have learned after raised 4 children now in their mid 30's (lost one after returning from war and one adopted as a young teen), 2 foster children and recently adopted a little girl. No one knows the way their kids will react better than the ones who loved and raised them. If concern and/or fear for your child is first and foremost your in your mind at the moment you are going to use what you have learned they will respond to them home safely and save any other reaction until later. Anger usually has the opposite reaction. I think Mom has dealt with a lot and handled the call the best way she knew how. I think she was afraid for SS in whatever capacity she feared and was walking on tip toes during the call.

This is one of the best research articles on scent traces I have read. You would probably find it very interesting.
"According to anecdotal information, identifiable human scent usually disappears from an environment after 24 hours. But human scent can persist for much longer than one day. In 2003, the FBI hosted a bloodhound research workshop that included a test to evaluate the feasibility of detecting aged human scent in a heavily populated residential area. Researchers selected a test subject who had lived in a Stafford, Virginia house for seven years before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Six months after the subject had moved to New Mexico, researchers placed a bloodhound team at a Stafford intersection several houses away from the old residence. After sniffing a letter that the subject had mailed from New Mexico, the dog trailed to and identified the correct house. In this study, the distinctive scent traces withstood the deteriorating effects of weather. But scent can survive conditions much more extreme than weather."
Scents and Sense-Ability

Thanks, it's interesting but I'm interested in this particular situation and Savannah only being in that location for what we think was a few hours. Everything I've read say the sooner the dogs look for the scent the better the possibility is they'll find it. They say 2 to 3 hours after the scent was left gives the dog the best chance of find the scent. Days, then maybe a week or two. All dogs are different but as time goes by it gets more difficult and in high traffic areas the scent will completely fade away.

Your article is about bloodhounds and tells of a dog that tracked a scent of a man who moved from his home but had lived there 7 yrs. The dog smells some mail from him and found his home by smelling his scent on the mail. I'm sure after living there seven yrs his scent was strong and in a lot of places but this seems to be something most tracking dogs aren't capable of doing. Anyway a lot of the articles I've read sure aren't giving that kind of information.

Hopefully it wasn't to late for the dogs to help out but we haven't heard anything about the dogs picking up her scent.

I know you said in your opinion, but really, SS had no responsibilities?

I don't understand that, either. As a mother myself I wouldn't say that being the parent to young children isn't without responsibilities. I'm sure most parents would agree.

It was actually a diff group that found Emily. He posted about it on the SAR fb page bc everyone was giving him all the credit. <modsnip: removed screenshot> I thought it was decent of him for clearing it up and not just taking credit for her being found.

True she probably would have been found by now. But my point is mainly in reference to cases of a woman leaving with a stranger from a bar and never heard from again. I’m not sure there is a statistic that I can link to on this matter.but if their was, it’s my belief that it’s highly likely in crimes like this that foul play is usually involved and pourpatrated by the individuals that they left with....jmo on the likeliness of the crime and maybe this case is in the minority. Either way jmo

I’m with you on this. I’m come from a statistics background where numbers are every thing. The chances are so low that she would leave the bar with three strangers, walk away from them and then run into another stranger who’s out to hurt someone. That’s partly why I don’t think this will end up being something premeditated. I think something bad happened but I don’t think they set out for it to happen.

Love the humbleness and honesty.

And understand, there is nothing about Savannah’s possible background that precludes me wanting her found.
I just think chit chat elevates everyone to sainthood, which may not be true, and doesn’t make a difference. A young lady is missing and that’s one too many

Jmo her current life/life style/living situation matters only in the way that it may affect whether she might have “taken off” or felt free to do so, or was fleeing something. None of those seem likely to me, not to mention it takes money to disappear, and we are taking a month+ now.

I wonder if the searching has been all based pretty much on the idea that she either walked away from the house in question, or along the driving route from the house toward the general direction of her home. And if so, I guess I can’t imagine where else they could or should search. She could be anywhere.
Jmo

I noticed someone posted something Texas Equusearch posted on Savannah. I know Toney and team were going to leave on Tuesday. Is Texas Equusearch coming in now?

I haven’t seen anything about them coming. I know people have mentioned telling the family about contacting them for help. I don’t know if they ever did though.

I hope that they get some more help in finding her. I fear this case might slow down. :(

I was one of the people who mentioned them, but I don't now if they've been contacted or not. It would be great to get another group in here.

Me too :( I get that feeling I had when Crystal Rogers went missing and the first round of searches yielded nothing. KY doesn’t have the most ideal terrain to search. There’s a lot of hilly wooded areas and a lot of water. This part of the year is a little easier to search that type of area since most of the leaves are gone and the brush is mostly dead but it still makes it difficult.

Also, whoever did something to her had the advantage of at least a 48 hour headstart. That doesn’t even factor in the extra time it took for LE to find and talk to the guys (if they’re responsible). I’ve mentioned it before, but you can get into a few different states and back within a 10 hour period. I can’t imagine how helpless of a feeling that would be for a victim’s family.

It would! I saw where a poster mentioned her aunt reading the forums so maybe she can reach out to them. I know family has to make the initial contact to equuisearch

Coming from a small town I'm surprised there hasn't been a fundraiser to raise money for CCSAR to stay longer. Especially in the areas involved with SS. It must be devastating to know SS is missing.

Are they a charitable org?

Are they a charitable org?

I believe they are. They’re a non profit and they do fundraisers and take donations. They have different chapters around the states now. It really grew after their involvement in Caylee Anthony’s case. Tim Miller is a stand up guy and his story is TRAGIC. If you haven’t read about his daughter, Laura Miller, you should look for some articles.

They’ve been getting food and lodging donated to them. They were asking for monetary donations at one point bc transportation costs were high. I don’t think they’re not staying longer bc of money issues though. I think it’s more of a time problem. It’s been down to just Toney and Pepper for a few days now bc his other volunteers had to hear back home.

I'm disappointed by the overall lack of community involvement. I reached out to some people today about doing something for the Cajun rescuers before they go home. In most other searches we've had in the area, we've had churches and civic organizations step in to provide meals, supply, and support. There has been some of that here and there this time around, but not anywhere near what I've seen in the past.
