Savannah Spurlock case in Kentucky delayed again for murder suspect
April 2, 2020
The property owner, Sparks' father, had reported smelling "a foul odor" earlier on that day, July 10, and investigators eventually found the remains buried "in an unnatural position," according to Kentucky State Police.
Authorities have not released Spurlock's cause of death.

Hours after uncovering the remains on July 10, police arrested Sparks and charged him with abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
And in late August, a Garrard County grand jury indicted Sparks on a murder charge in addition to the two charges he was already facing.
Sparks and the two other unidentified men men seen leaving the Lexington bar with Spurlock had been interviewed and released earlier on in the investigation.
No one else has been charged in connection with Spurlock's death.
According to previous court testimony, investigators believe the other men who were at the Price Court home that night left after a few hours.
Sparks, represented by a public defender,
has pleaded not guilty to his charges.
During a court hearing last summer, a Kentucky State Police detective
detailed two pieces of evidence key to the investigation: a bloody smudge on Sparks' bedroom closet door and a gray accent rug buried with Spurlock's remains that is believed to have come from Sparks' bedroom.

On April 2, 2019, investigators searched the Price Court home and, using a spray that indicates the presence of blood, found a stain on the inside of a closet door in Sparks' bedroom, according to the KSP detective.
DNA testing of the blood linked it to Spurlock.
Her unclothed body was eventually discovered in July 2019 at the Fall Lick Road property inside multiple black garbage bags that were, at their deepest, buried 19 inches down, according to police.
Chavies testified that Spurlock's body was folded in half and bound at the feet with tape "in an unnatural position."
Sparks has remained at the Lincoln County Regional Jail on a $500,000 bond.
