On Sunday, family, friends and strangers gathered at the steps of the Shelby County Courthouse praying for Serenity’s safe return.

During the vigil, family members expressed the importance of keeping her name and face in the public eye. The family said it’s important to keep Serenity’s name and face in the public eye.

The relayed to WHAS11 News that police told them they are following up on leads, but there has been no public update to share.

I'm glad the State AG's Office is involved, I hope they take a look at CPS and how they handled the welfare checks requested by the family :mad:

Finally, Abby invoking her 5th amendment right (ala~Lori Vallow) tells me all I need to know. Whether she was in a DV situation or not, she was solely in charge of and responsible for the safety of Serenity. Sorry - not sorry, I'm tired of Mom's not protecting their children.

I don’t have high hopes for our AG unfortunately. I hope so, for this little sweetie but, he really has a terrible track record here in KY. MOO

Searching for answers, her family held a vigil Sunday on Main Street in Shelbyville.

The family spent time holding candles and praying for her safe return. Among them was Kevin Rice, who is Serenity’s paternal uncle.

"You wake up thinking about it, you go to bed thinking about it," Rice said. "For me, I've just been praying all day to bring this child home. You hear these stories all the time, but when it's your own family, it hits home and it's hard."

Another one. Why is it that people are waiting so long to report the fact that the child hasn't been seen in over a year? My mom would raise hell if my brother didn't let her see my nephews. I hope this little girl is safe and warm somewhere. Not likely but one can hope.

This family (both maternal and paternal), has been trying to get anyone to listen for almost a year now. Grandparents have very few rights in this county. They sounded alarm after alarm. Contacted CPS again and again. They just weren't heard. :( very sad.

No criticizing, just thinking out loud. If any one of us were in the same situation and not getting the response we needed. What are the options?
  • Call LE and insist on a welfare check, get a case number.
  • Call your local City Councilman or County Supervisor and let them know your concerns and the response you are getting.
  • Call your State Representative.
  • Go to a CC or BOS meeting and speak in the public comment section.
  • Call local media and see if you can get someone to listen to your story.
My point is the squeaky wheel gets the grease, it might take repetitive daily calls- but a government official is going to get tired of hearing from you and make a call to either LE or CPS. None of them want to have a messy public situation, where their lack of action will be called out. If I lost access to one of my grandkids and were truly concerned for their safety, there's nothing I wouldn't do. Including risking the alienation of one of my own children.

Well, The Sun is reporting her body was found. But, they also state no charges against Serenity's mother which disputes previous reports. Should I serve salt with this?

THE body of a missing four-year-old girl was reportedly found in Kentucky, and her mom's boyfriend was charged with murder and abuse of a corpse.

The boyfriend - Dakota Hill - was charged with murder and abuse of a corpse, according to Shelby County, Kentucky inmate records.

There are no charges against Serenity's biological mother Catherine "Abby" McKinney, as of 2:30pm Saturday.

A body matching the description of Serenity was found in nearby Bullit County.

I’m glad she was found. I wish the outcome had been different. Why the BF and not the mother? She had to have known what happened.
