Boy, 10, hangs himself as parents say they'll sue school for allowing students to bully their son | Daily Mail Online

A ten-year-old boy committed suicide on Saturday after his fifth grade classmates teased him for needing a colostomy bag, authorities in Kentucky say.

Seven Bridges, 10, hanged himself in the closet of his home.

His body was discovered by his mother, Tami Charles, who had just returned home from the grocery store at around 10:30am.

‘I saw my son dead,’ she told WHAS-TV. ‘That’s something in my head.’

Donnie Bridges, the boy’s father, was at church choir practice when Seven killed himself.

‘For the few minutes that we left, he didn't want us to see that,’ Donnie Bridges said.

The parents said they ‘absolutely’ plan to take legal action against Jefferson County Public Schools, WDRB-TV reported.

They said Seven was a victim of repeated bullying by students at Kerrick Elementary School.

‘JCPS: You all failed my baby,’ an emotional Charles said.

Renee Murphy, a spokesperson for the school district, said it plans to ‘launch a full investigation’ into how administrators handled complaints by the family.

Oh God, what kind of world are we living in?
eta: Maybe I'm asking the wrong entity.
How does a 10 year old child even know about hanging himself?

How sad! I wish he would have talked to someone one last time before taking this step. Maybe he would have gotten a dose of hope.

We need to teach our children that time only seems slower when you're little.
If Seven had been told that this, too, shall pass, would he have held on?

may his family find peace some how in this and others will learn from this. I cant even imagine, mom finding her baby. awful.

the parents want to bring a legal action against the school... how is the school any more culpable than the kids' who were allegedly bullying Seven, and their families? I'd love to think that something good can come from this in a larger sense but it hasn't yet... Perhaps his family can find the space when they are ready to celebrate Seven, and set up something positive in his honor. Just tragic and heartbreaking. I am glad he no longer suffers, but so many more do... starting with all those who loved this kid.
