Shanaira Selden was last seen Sunday by a neighbor near Wyandotte Park and her home on West Whitney Avenue. Selden's cell phone and other cherished belongings were left at the home and that it was out of character for her daughter to vanish without telling anyone.

Her mother, who lives in Radcliff, said she last talked with her daughter via text at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday. "She seemed OK. Nothing was out of the ordinary."

Shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, her mother said she received a call from Selden's number, but it was Selden's boyfriend.

The boyfriend asked the mother if she had seen Selden and said he had not seen her since returning to the couple's home that morning after spending the night out.

Selden may be wearing a plum-colored Old Navy pea coat, a pink and black Betsy Johnson backpack and orange, gray and black Nike Air Max shoes, according to her mother.

Selden is 5 feet, 1 inch tall and about 100 pounds. She has "brownish black hair" and brown eyes.

From the article:
“I saw her on Saturday via FaceTime. She had gotten a new hijab and wanted to show me. [She was] very happy. Didn’t have any issues,” (SSM) said. “Then, on Sunday we spoke between 11:30a.m. and 11:45 a.m.”

[...]

In the home she shared with her boyfriend and a roommate, Shanaira left her cellphone, hijab, and prayer beads as well as her son, (A's), picture and teddy bear. The 4-year-old died in a car accident in 2018.

[...]

No money, no car, no friends or family in the area, (SSM) can’t help but picture the worst.

“I add up the fact that she left the things that are important behind and then I add up the fact that she hasn’t contacted me, I add up the fact that she would never put her family though this on purpose and then I suspect foul play again,” (SSM) said.

The discovery of a woman's body in the Ohio River Sunday raised fears for a family searching for a missing Louisville woman.

25 year old Shanaira Selden was last seen by her mother on October 19.

A statement from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources only confirmed that the body they recovered near New Albany was that of a female.

A brief comment Monday from LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell offered no clues if the victim could be Shanaira, only saying "we have not ruled out that possibility."

No friends? She’s living with her boyfriend and a roommate. And the mom isn’t halfway across the county - like 40-45 minute drive?

Her 4 yrs old son died in a car accident April 2018 in W Virginia. Shanaira was driving.

Oh my gosh, that makes me worry all the more. I have a young daughter and god forbid anything like that happened, I don't think I could live with the guilt, even if the accident wasn't my fault. I don't know if I could get over that. :(

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The mother of a missing Louisville woman says her daughter was found dead nearly a week after her disappearance.

Shanaira Selden, 25, was last seen nine days ago near Wyandotte Park in Louisville.

Tuesday, Selden's mother, Shameka Sells-Moore, told WDRB News her daughter's body was pulled from the Ohio River on Sunday afternoon in New Albany by Indiana DNR officials, although a coroner has yet to officially identify the remains.

Selden's family spent much of Monday putting up flyers around the city in hopes of finding her. Sells-Moore said she last talked to her daughter on Oct. 20 and hadn't heard from her since. Selden had left most of her belongings, including her cellphone and one of her most prized possessions, her Hijab, behind at her boyfriend's house.

Selden's 4-year-old son was killed in a car accident in 2018, and Sells-Moore was concerned her daughter was in a mental crisis.

IMO
The Ohio River runs SW towards the Mississippi River. The body was found in New Albany, IN which is north of where she was last seen. If she was planning self harm, why go north/ northeast when the direct route is west to river.

We don't know where she went in the river. If she entered in Louisville, the river flows Northwest towards New Albany.
