Yah... I had something totally different in mind lol... It’s just that when I first read the description, my mind went straight to fishnet stockings. So I couldn’t imagine a shirt nor do I know if they were popular then. Popular among certain “crowds”? Not relevant I’m sure, just want to visualize what our guy might have looked like or worn back then.

Distance is an issue but thought there were enough similarities to post.

They look identical IMO!! Our Doe has pretty descriptive dental information and Craig’s photo shows a lot of his teeth! I wish I understood more about it so I could compare the two. I think he may be the best possible match thus far! (JMO)

I’m adding him to the spreadsheet! ;)

ETA: side by sides

This missing boy was added to Charley Project in the last few days and I’d never seen him before. I don’t see a strong resemblance in the two but the circumstances and timeline are a match IMO. A better photo of Donald might help in comparing physical appearance.
Donald Wayne Sharp – The Charley Project
32A63932-40CE-4F91-A2F2-8F1CFFA74E1B.jpeg
He is missing from West Portsmouth, Ohio since February 1, 1976.
18 years old, 5'6 - 5'10, 145 pounds, sandy brown hair, blue eyes. According to The Charley Project:
Details of Disappearance
Sharp was last seen in West Portsmouth, Ohio on February 1, 1976. He was dropped off at Shawnee State Park to go on a solo camping trip. He took a bookbag with a few days' worth of clothes, his violin, and writing papers and writing utensils. When his brothers came to pick him up, he wasn't there. Park rangers were notified and a missing persons report was filed, but he was never located.

Sharp lived in Newport, Kentucky at the time of his disappearance. His case remains unsolved.
ETA...there is a childhood photo of Donald on his NamUs profile. I see more of a resemblance in that one.

Mesh shirts were very popular in the 70s and early 80s.

Link to a popular style mesh shirt that may be more in line with what authorities stated he was wearing underneath the western-style shirt:

True. I gave a little leeway since he was burned. I’ve seen that effect hair color in some cases, depending on certain circumstances.

Bumping case up.
Does he have any listed rule-outs?

I just found this thread because he was mentioned on a different thread and must say I am very impressed by the detail in NamUs for this case. I wish every case had this much information.

Bumping for Shepherdsville John Doe.

This MAY BE, a little far fetched, but hear me out.

This guy, Gary Lynn Mullinax, went missing on the same day that the John Doe was found. Gary was last seen in Little Rock Arkansas which is about a 7 hour drive between the two. Below are the comparisons between the two, where I think MAYBE one of the dates could be wrong.

LE believes that the John Doe was a homosexual, could Gary have had a secret life, beyond the drugs. It said his wife was in the process of divorcing him when he went missing?

John Doe
Estimated Age:
18-22 years old
Race: White
Sex: Male
Height: 5'6" to 5'7"
Weight: 140 to 150 lbs.
Hair: Brown to auburn at the ends; wore a mustache. The auburn coloration may have been a result of the body being burned.
Eye Color: Unknown
Distinguishing Marks/Features: Healed fracture to left side of lower jaw. A- blood type. Circumcised.
Gary Mullinax
Date of Birth: June 27, 1954
Age: 21 years old
Race: White
Gender: Male
Height: 5'4"; - 5'6"; NamUs says - 5' 4" - 5' 9" (64 - 69 Inches)
Weight: 130 - 160 lbs.
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Distinguishing Marks/Features: Often wears a mustache or full beard; jaw had been previously broken from a car wreck; left hip/leg may have been broken due to falling out of a tree.
According to The Doe Network, the only thing they would be able to compare the two by are Fingerprints.
The Doe does not have DNA, where Gary does not have Dentals available.

I would think this would have been looked into already, but who knows since the Doe doesn't have DNA?

I think it looks too close not to submit. UID has no exclusions listed on NamUs, so I think it's worth sending a quick email to double-check whether this has been looked into or not. Good catch!

I searched for a little while yesterday to send a, nice lengthy email to the contact on the Doe's FBI Vicap poster, which bounced back as undeliverable. I ran out of time, so I may look at Gary's contacts and send the email to them. I will keep you all posted.
