It looks like her mother made a post 2 hours ago on the Help find Summer Eckert FB page which states,

"Summer hasn't been seen since last Thursday, July 30th in Broward County, Florida in the Wilton Manors area. Please continue sharing and prayers for her safety."

That is good news, at least she has been seen within the last week. I was worried about her hitchhiking and thought this might not have a great outcome, but happy to hear she has at least been sighted!

There were no additional details given in the post by the mom. In the map you posted, it looks like there are three parks; from what we know of her, I wonder if she was sighted there. I also wonder if a tip was called in that she was sighted and confirmed by LE or if she was seen by people who know her. I thought the vague post was kind of strange, but given her history of disappearing, maybe it's not so strange. I just hope she is safe.

Turns out she was seen here in Oakland Park, FL - the large building west of the pin is a behavioral hospital.

If you read the post that is on the National Missing group that the family was working with it is stated Summer was located by law enforcement - this is where the sighting comes from. She hasn't broken any laws, she can't be forced to go home since she is an adult, and she can't be forced to see any mental health people. Right now, unless her family goes to Florida and tries to convince her to come home, nothing is going to happen.

We are currently seeking information and assistance in hopes to get Summer ECKERT back home to her family. Summer is from North Carolina and suffers from cognitive impairments and she is in need of medication.

Summer was LOCATED in Ft.Lauderdale/ Broward County Florida. Summer may be looking for a place to “SING”. She frequents church’s and or places that Native Americans may gather.

We have GREAT news!!
After tracking this individual WITH A SEVERE cognitive impairments from North Carolina, to Kentucky, to Tennessee then into Florida at two locations, this subject can now be marked as FOUND SAFE.
This missing subject was LOCATED in Florida. They were transferred back to North Carolina last night, and now we can report that they are SAFE.
- All of us here at NCME, along with this missing subjects family, wish to thank all of those who helped in locating this subject and did everything they could to make this outcome possible.
We also GREATLY appreciated the prayers, love and support shown to this missing subject and their family.
