Family members concerned about missing woman last seen in Paris
TINA+JOHNSON+WEB.jpg

Family members say all they have to hold onto is hope, a week and a half after Tina Johnson was last seen.
Johnson, 53, left her house between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 2, family members tell WKYT.
They say she called and said she would stop by a friend's house. That is the last they have heard from her.
Johnson's car was found parked at an apartment building on Pinecrest Street in Paris, but there was no sign of Johnson herself, family members said. In fact, family members say the car was towed before Johnson was even reported missing.

The woman, who is said to have dementia, was last seen on the evening of December 2nd when family members said she dropped her daughter off at home in Paris.

Kenny Johnson hasn't seen or heard from his mother in a week and half.

"She either will be in contact with her family, husband, or children at all times. My mother does not take off for 2,3,4 days at a time and not contact anybody," said Johnson.

She is quite young for the onset of dementia. It's surprising to me that she is still driving. I hope she is found safe very soon.

Body found in Paris duplex identified as missing Lexington woman
A Paris man has been charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse after the body of a missing Lexington woman was found in the crawl space of a duplex in Bourbon County.

A state trooper found the body of Tina Johnson, 53, who had been reported missing from Fayette County on Dec. 3.

Michael Hutsell, 45, was booked into the Bourbon County regional jail early Tuesday, according to the jail website. State police received a call from the Paris Police Department about a strange odor coming from the duplex on High Street at 11:50 p.m. Monday, according to Kentucky State Police. The Paris police had gone to the home because the door was open.

Oh my God! Nooo! :(

What did he do to her??

So sad to hear these news. RIP Tina, and my condolences to her family.

I read of that guy being arrested for something like "abuse of corpse" or "indignity to corpse," but not for murder or manslaughter or assault or the like. That will likely change now that we know whose body it was (i.e. someone who was reported missing and was being searched for).

I also saw that this lady was missing, but wasn't really following the stories about her. With her suffering from dementia, I'd just assumed that she'd wandered off and sadly had probably frozen to death. The weather, at least in my part of Kentucky, has been kind of schizophrenic this winter. The temps have literally gone from the teens to the low-70's and back and forth and back and forth within just days.
It looks like we're now heading into another cold spell after being teased with a string of Spring-like (or even Summer-like) days.

I would have thought that she could have possibly gone into the crawlspace for shelter.... Had I not heard of his arrest before she was actually found (or ID'ed).

Has anybody heard what kind of connection (if any) there was b/w Johnson and Hutsell???
I mean, if you just happen to come across someone who's dead, you generally don't wrap them in plastic and hide them.

*I must have already read enough Herald-Leader/KY.com stories for the latest time period, whatever that is.

Michael Hutsell, 45, who lived in one of the duplexes units, has been arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence in connection to the case.

(...)

State police have not released any information on the cause of Johnson’s death. An autopsy was performed Tuesday afternoon, but the coroner says results will not be likely until Wednesday.

Hutsell may face additional charges depending on the outcome of the autopsy.

I won't be surprised at all if additional charges are filed post-autopsy. The only hypothetical situation I can think of in which these charges could be brought & not added to is if Tina died of a drug OD & rather than report the death, Hutsell concealed the body and destroyed evidence. Please know I am in NO way insinuating that Tina did drugs, just brainstorming possible scenarios.

Here's some of the stories that I can currently look at.
Were there any big details not mentioned in these that were in the Kentucky.com story?

UPDATE: BODY FOUND UNDER PARIS HOME IDENTIFIED AS TINA JOHNSON
WTVQ-36 (ABC, Lexington, KY)
1/3/2017
Johnson, 53, was from Lexington but was last seen in Paris on December 2nd. Her car was found abandoned in an apartment complex parking lot Paris on Sunday, December 4, with her purse and license still inside.
According to an arrest citation, Hutsell told police he wrapped Johnson’s body in plastic and hid it in the crawl space. Troopers say they believe this happened around the same time Johnson disappeared.
45-year-old Michael Hutsell was charged in the case, but officers have not released details on how Hutsell was related, if at all, to the victim. Investigators say he may face additional charges depending on the outcome of an autopsy, scheduled for later Tuesday.

Man arrested after body of missing woman found in crawl space of Paris, Ky. duplex

WDRB FOX-41 (Louisville, KY)

When officers arrived, the property owner gave them permission to search the property, according to the news release.

Police say that, while searching the property, they found a body of a woman "in the crawl space area of the duplex." That's when officers obtained a search warrant.

bbm - The only thing I can find regarding how they two knew each other is this:

“From what we understand, she didn’t really know the fellow at all,” he said of Hutsell.

He said state police had told the family that Hutsell “was one of the last persons she was seen with,” but he did not know any other details.

So they didn't "really" know each other, yet someone saw them together. Casual acquaintance who took advantage of her?

March 2019:

Commonwealth’s Attorney Sharon Muse said that the state and Kentucky State Police recently concluded they did not have evidence to prove a murder charge against 48-year-old Michael Hutsell in the death of 53-year-old Tina Johnson...

Hutsell still faces several other charges, including abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree persistent felon and retaliating against participants in a legal process.

Hutsell has since been released from jail.
