The Delphi Murders: The Stephenson Case and the Witnesses Against Kegan Kline

from thursday. 3/7/2023

Murder Sheet calls Det. Cox, to suss out the link of Stephenson w/ Delhi.
Also discusses the witness list's witnesses for the KK upcoming trial.
I feel like the most significant thing to come out of this whole mess was that investigators thought the tip was worthy of being forwarded to Delphi. Perhaps it will help that case, and I was a little disappointed that MS glossed over CC's comment about it.

Apparently, whatever this piece of information was, it stood out enough for Boone Co. to want to check it out. In the end, it didn't appear pertinent to the Stephensons, but it did seem possibly pertinent to Delphi. We can only speculate on what that information could have been. Maybe it can give us a glimmer of insight into Delphi, knowing what happened in the Stephenson case, but again, we really don't know much about either.

So, despite CC not feeling like the two cases are connected, hopefully this tip was not a waste. It brought renewed awareness of the Stephenson case, and potentially added new information for Delphi investigators. Jmo.

Anyone have any ideas what the connect might possible be? Listen to the detective in the Part Two video...any ideas?

I haven't listened to this video yet <modsnip: Rumor/hearsay from social media is not allowed>

Maybe I'm overly optimistic but I feel like there's gonna be a break in this case soon.

Why do you think there will be a break soon? (I hope you're correct!)

Mainly just a gut feeling. They have DNA and fingerprints. There's so many clues, and now this Dephi connection that really isn't a connection. All the religious undertones, and the "message" to police. I just have a feeling thats all.

Something does feel like it changed in this case. The Delphi connection probably is more a clue about Delphi than it is about this case. Even if it's something that eliminates the connection, if that makes sense.

Anyone aware of any movement on this case?

I'm not finding anything new. Maybe someone else has?
I've been Googling and checking Reddit. There's been a recent podcast episode but I don't think any new leads or progress was mentioned. Websleuthers usually are the best informed, which is why I asked.

New to this case. From the area. I live 5 minutes from where the murders occurred. I am struck that this case has yet to be solved. Such a horrible feeling for the family and law enforcement. Since new, what are some ideas that can be generated to get some attention? Especially here locally.

2020 rbbm Possible re-post.

'On May 29, 2011, the Stephensons were slain in brutal fashion – bludgeoned and stabbed – and then, whoever killed them staged a bizarre scene. '

''What he will say is that the bodies had been posed. Items inside the house had been moved around. “There wasn’t one room in that house that wasn’t staged,”

'The killer(s) also seemed comfortable in the environment, staying hours after the couple was killed to inflict a postmortem injury on one of them and stage the scene.
There also was a message left by the killer(s), Cox said, though he wouldn’t share the details'.

'It turns out that police have DNA evidence that they believe came from the killer(s), and it doesn't match the nephew's.'

''The motive: Motive isn’t always easy to spot in the most straightforward of murder cases, and this one is anything but. Cox said the easy-to-fence items robbers steal were left untouched. Photos were arranged to suggest the killer(s) liked certain people and disliked others, but it all feels scripted.''

''The one thing Cox is certain of is this: “They both had to die,” he said. If only one half of the couple had been targeted, there was ample opportunity to attack each alone. ''
