What about Derrick Vincent Kucera? Kucera is a Czech and Slovak surname. He was 23 y.o. in 1986 at the time of his disappearance and weighted 210-220 pounds.

If it's true no dentals nor DNA available, how would they be able to rule him out? :(
Right! I did not notice it. And even the DDP will be able to make a connection between our Doe and Derrick using forensic genealogy , it will be impossible to confirm it. I wonder why the DNA is not available.

DNA not available doesn't always mean that DNA doesn't exist. Sometimes the information is held by LE or family and only compared for specific requests.

Also, to go in CODIS, the sample has to meet certain quality standards. There might be a sample that's not good enough for automatic matching but still usable for one-by-one comparisons.

It could also mean that the DNA is at a lab being processed, and the results aren't back yet.

it will be SO satisfying when this UID gets identified (and im saying when, not if, to will it into existence...) because whoever murdered him clearly thought that cutting off the hands would entirely hamper identification... its worked for 30 years, but it wont work forever!

I know! I’ve been looking at his face almost everyday for awhile now. He deserves his name and some justice!

Jeffrey Gerald and Ernest Slavik seem like the two best matches to me. I’ve submitted them both.

3254DMWV - Ernest Stanley Slavik

View attachment 293208 View attachment 293209

Differences: age, schrapnel in back, maybe a little short, hair color maybe off.

Pros: facial resemblance, Slavik is a name common to several areas that show up in the DNA chart

Those 2 pics don't look like the same person to me. The hairline in front is straight for4 Slavik vs a bit of a dip in the missing person's. They are called Widow's Peak's (usually more pronounced). The other thing that looks different to me is the bridge of the nose. Our guy's bridge seems narrower than Slavik's. Slavik's eyebrows seem more pronounced on the outer edges while our guy's are more pronounced on the inside. Adam's apple looks different too.

Lastly, the nostrils seem different. Slavik's seem more straight across (I don't think I'm doing a good job describing this. lol) and our guy's seem to dip down on the outer edges. Making like a rounder nose hole. Boy I did a bad job of describing that. My apologies!

But the face shape looks spot on. And even the mouth appears the same, even though Slavik is smiling.

With all that said... I could probably detect differences in 2 different photos of myself, especially if one was an enhanced photo. Just adding my 2 cents though. :)

Well, they're getting somewhere. I'm hopeful.

I think to be more precise according to his Oracle 4 as Susikatze has mentioned he seems to be of Southeast European/Balcan origin, he could be of Serbian/Croatian/Romanian/Bulgarian/Moldavian ancestry. I hope that the DDP will reveal more information.

The following have been ruled out:
Christopher Winkler
Jerry Plaster
Harvey Kays

I added Steven to this list I sent to the ME. I’ve not heard back from her. I really think this could be Jeffrey Gerald, so I submitted him to both the ME and Doe Network. I’ve not heard anything about him either.
Any new exclusions? I wonder if they add Hafer, Slavik and Gerald.

I haven’t been able to log into NamUs recently, so I can’t see Exclusions. I haven’t had a chance to see why. :D

There was a discussion about it, there are people who have difficulties with Namus now, it looks like big changes are coming, you can read the discussion here:

Your on to something, for sure. Thank you for all you are doing to help get this man's name back. Hopefully you get to change your profile picture soon, if you know what I mean.
I know what you mean!! I hope so too. Thanks Grungster. :)

Is Stephen Hafer a good potential match?
"Steven Hafer was last seen in late March 1989"
1831DMKY - Steven Allen Hafer

The police seemed to think he was buried near a river but never found a grave. The heights are off but I think the faces have some resemblance. Color of hair and eyes match. Victim had been dead around a week, closely matching the time of disappearance of Hafer.

Hafer info:

New here but the Grant county John doe sparked my interest as it is local to me. All my family is from Grant County . And everybody in Grant County is pretty much related to each other . Unless this John Doe isn't from the area then I would expect him to match it at least some centimorgans . I have my DNA on ancestrydna 23andMe my heritage gedmatch and familytreedna .I am from grant county, Williamstown to be exact. Grant county is a small farming county. Im curious does any one know that address to the barn? Who owned the property? So when we talk about Steven Harfer its plausible to be the grant county john doe. Sure they kind of look a like i give that. Harfer went missing March 1989 and then grant county john doe was found April 1989 that's suspicious. In 2008 some one was arrested in the murder of Harfer (info here)

Campbell County police make arrest in 19-year-old murder case

The woman says she was there for the murder they smothered him and buried him along the licking river. Logical to say they could have passed on the river and drove up 22 to end at the barn. BUT Grants lick and Williamstown are both a more heavily populated area compared to the liking river or the town of Falmouth. Could a coroner tell if some one was smothered then shot? Knowing the licking river ( although just speculation of course) I bet there are more then one body buried some where along the licking river. Why cut the hands off the grant county doe? What's to hide? Plus with the info i have read he had a lot of dental work and we all know that's quite expensive. I wouldn't assume he would fit in a high risk category such as homeless.

Another angle here the is no direct interstate access to Grants lick... But while not a direct access to 22 there is a interstate exit near 22 i can not recall when it was built. My husband said he thinks it was not built till around 2000 but he said he could also be wrong. With out the exit there 22 would not be easy to find from an outsider. Its a long curvy road that unless you live there I couldn't see how anybody who's not local to the area would ever find Highway 22 to think it would be a good idea like how are they going to get away from the scene before they're seen. Anyways just my two cents . I'm not sure if you have to opt-in to them using your DNA on any of the DNA sites but I was still expected some point if he's local to be related in some way .

I have read this whole thread and looked names up and i do think the generated picture i think he looked like Ernest Stanley Slavik

Admixture has been added - looks like he's of Baltic ancestry. I can personally speak to Baltic genealogy being incredibly difficult, I'm not shocked the DDP have hit a wall with his tree.
