The judge Mr Justice Bennathan told them that Kyle Clifford, who is now a wheelchair-user, has chosen not to attend his trial

amazing the rights that murderers have - the same concessions never seem to apply for victims
should be the victims decision imo.

Killer went for night out days before triple murder

The court hears former soldier Kyle Clifford went for a night out in central London with an Army friend four days before the murders.

They went to bars and stayed overnight in a hotel.

Clifford's friend, Benjamin Rees, said his behaviour was "quite normal" and the only thing he found strange was he left the hotel early on the morning of 6 July last year without saying goodbye.

Prosecutor Alison Morgan KC turns to the events of 9 July, the day of the attack, showing jurors a graphic of the Hunt family home and photographs of the layout.

She also says a doorbell camera captured some of the audio of what happened.

Ms Morgan says BBC racing commentator John Hunt went to work by train, while his wife stayed at home.

Louise Hunt was working in a pod in the garden, where she ran her dog grooming business, while her sister Hannah Hunt went to work locally as a beautician.

Kyle Clifford went to a garden centre and was in contact with a woman nicknamed "Sammy", with whom he was in a relationship, at 12.38pm.

He sent a message saying: "Hey, I'm just taking time to myself" and she replied: "I've been worried sick".

The court hears from that point onwards he set off from his home to the Hunt family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire, and jurors are shown dashcam footage and a map of the journey.

The prosecutor says everything for the attack was in his vehicle, including the knife, a crossbow and crossbow bolts.

She says Clifford also had a white plastic bag and a card he had written for John and Carol Hunt.

I find this so strange, he was in another relationship yet followed through with that plan.

I don't really. He's the type who thinks men can have as many women as they want on the go, but his ego can't take any of them leaving him.

Scream heard after Clifford used 'rouse' to trick his way into family home

The court hears that when Kyle Clifford arrived at the family home he got out of his car to check how many of their vehicles were parked outside.

He returned to his car to search "horse racing today" on his phone to check where BBC commentator John Hunt was.

Clifford also messaged "Sammy", a woman he was in a relationship with, to say: "Sorry Sam" before he drove closer to the address.

Jurors are now shown footage from his vehicle and doorbell cameras showing him, wearing a black tracksuit, taking a black rucksack out of the boot of his car.

Inside was the 10-inch knife, says prosecutor Alison Morgan KC, while he is carrying a white plastic bag with possessions used as a "rouse" to gain access to the house.

Clifford approached the door just after 2.30pm on 9 July and the court hears a transcript of a conversation between him and Carol Hunt, described as a "careful plan to get himself inside the address".

He says: "Hey I’m just err dropping off some of err Louise's stuff."

She asks how he is, and he replies: "I'm good thank you, what's wrong, you look like..."

Mrs Hunt replies: "I've seen a ghost."

Clifford tells her he's started therapy as they discuss the relationship with her daughter.

He then asks for a plastic bag to put the stuff - including a dressing gown and a hoody - into, begins to take off his backpack and says "Here you go" as he steps inside.

Over the next three minutes a long female scream followed by a shorter scream, banging sounds and noise of a commotion, was heard as Clifford attacked her with the knife.

Jurors are told a "thank you" card for John and Carol Hunt was later found unopened.

Inside it said "thank you so much for being a part of my life" and "your family have shown me so much love and kindness and I'm so grateful for everything".

Because he's an extreme narcissist.
"I'll be damned if I ever beg someone to love me for who I am"
"I'm so sorry I didn't give myself a chance to move past this... find my future wife and have the children I've always wanted" and "I don't want to live my life without her"
"Hey, I'm just taking time to myself"

me me me me ME.

His narcissism also shows in his not guilty plea. This has given him control, forcing a trial. What a lot of people he is controlling, including the victims' family. And he doesn't even have to be there! I bet he's loving it.

I think the rape charge should have been dropped. That would have sunk his boat.

Jurors hear of alleged rape and murder of Louise Hunt at family home

The court hears that after killing Carol Hunt, Kyle Clifford left the family home, and CCTV footage shows him returning to his car.

The footage played in court shows him then coming back to the house carrying a crossbow underneath a blanket, letting himself back in with a set of keys.

For the next hour, Louise Hunt was still working in her garden dog grooming pod, before she is seen coming in through the back patio door.

Audio from cameras at the front and back of the house captured a faint scream or shout and faint talking, then later a high pitch scream.

A male voice shouting and banging could also be heard over the next 15 minutes, the court hears.

Prosecutor Alison Morgan KC said Louise had been "quickly in fear of what she saw" or "quickly restrained" - she was later found with her ankles taped and hands tied behind her back.

It is also alleged she was gagged with a piece of tape over her mouth because no screams or shouts were heard.

When her body was found her underwear was in an "odd position", the prosecutor says, while forensic evidence shows penetrative sexual activity took place.

Prosecutors say Clifford raped Louise while she was restrained before murdering her with a crossbow bolt.

Killer used ex-girlfriend's phone to text her father while she was restrained, court hears

Jurors are told information from Louise Hunt's phone shows Kyle Clifford took the device from the garden pod where she worked, while she was restrained.

He launched the Instagram app, looking at a number of athletic male pictures, used the Safari browser and WhatsApp.

Prosecutor Alison Morgan KC says he was checking her phone to see who she's been in contact with, what she's been up to and what she's been looking at.

Clifford also messaged his sister on his own phone, who asked him why he had taken his "illegal" crossbow out. He said he was at a friend's house shooting in the back garden.

He then used Louise's phone to ask her father, John Hunt: "What time are you home?"

Mr Hunt later replied: "Late I'm afraid. Everything OK sweetness?"

Clifford also used the device to search: "If I unplug my smoke detector will it go off" and: "Is alcohol flammable?"

'Loud whooshing noise' heard on CCTV as crossbow fired

A "loud whooshing noise" is heard on CCTV as the crossbow is fired to kill Louise Hunt in footage played to jurors as her sister Hannah Hunt returns home.

Hannah, who planned to go back out again, went straight upstairs before realising Kyle Clifford was inside, the court hears.

Raised voices can be heard as Hannah says "Kyle I swear to god" and he says "Calm down. Stop, stop, stop."

There is another "whooshing sound" as another crossbow bolt is fired and Hannah's voice can be heard "crying out, shouting", the jury hears.

She messaged her boyfriend asking him to call police and saying: "HES TYING US UP".

Hannah is also heard to say: "Oh my god," the court hears, while Clifford left the house.

She managed to call police while injured, telling them she had been attacked by Clifford, along with her mother and sister, and was found collapsed in the doorway when emergency services arrived.

Hannah died shortly after.

It would seem that kyle planned only for louise. if he had a card with carol's name on it he probably intended her to read it and unfortunately Hannah walked through the door in that timeframe.

Prosecutors rely on scientific evidence to prove rape

Prosecutor Alison Morgan KC is now detailing the injuries suffered by the three victims.

Carol Hunt suffered five stab wounds, while her daughters were both killed by crossbow bolts, the court hears.

Ms Morgan says prosecutors rely on scientific evidence to prove Louise Hunt was raped, with swabs taken matching Kyle Clifford's DNA.

The court hears a scientist says the evidence "cannot be reasonably explained" by any sexual activity 16 days earlier on 23 June last year - as Clifford's lawyer is expected to claim.

Ms Morgan says the explanation is "completely untenable".

Killer shot himself with crossbow after triple murder

The jury is now being told about Kyle Clifford's movements after the murders.

He drove back to Enfield, where he lived, before going to a cemetery, where he was found the next day in a wooded area by armed police officers.

As they approached, Clifford shot himself with the crossbow and was taken to hospital.

He now uses a wheelchair because he is paralysed from the waist down.

Clifford was first interviewed in hospital in September last year when he made comments including "sorry" and "what I have done is atrocious", the court hears.

Concluding her opening remarks, Alison Morgan KC says: "The prosecution’s case is that the defendant planned a terrible attack on Louise Hunt and her family, enraged by her rejection of him.

"That attack included an act of sexual violence, committed out of spite, when she was restrained and unable to escape him."

Disgraceful. I think the jurors and judge need to see him. Get a feeling then actually look into his eyes
How can he be on trial but absent

ultimate sign of a narcissist - he killed others without a problem but couldn't quite bring himself to do the job properly when HE was the intended victim!!
