I was not a Websleuths member back when Kyron went missing and only loosely followed the story in news reports. I started going through the threads about this case but only got through thread #4 before skipping ahead to the threads covering 2020-2022. So, please forgive me if I’m asking a question covered already.

I noticed in the divorce settlement that Terri got the Mustang and Kaine the 2005 pickup as well as “the John Deere tractor.” It doesn’t specify tractor size or capability.

Was that tractor capable of excavating? And then refilling? Was Terri capable of operating it? And if not her, was the friend who was missing during the same hours Terri was capable of operating it? Did the Hormans have a trailer for transporting the tractor? (ETA: was the tractor sophisticated enough to have telematics?)

I remember Terri saying she hired a landscaper on the sly because she believed Kaine wanted too much yard work out of her older son who ultimately moved to live with her parents. What kind of extensive clearing or other yard work was being done? Did LE search the Horman property?…not just a ground search, but a search for areas recently dug?

This might explain why she needed the truck the day he disappeared. She needed to haul the tractor. Would be interesting to know if she had previously borrowed the truck.

I hate to see this go down the wrong path, so pointing out there is zero evidence pointing to Terri pulling a loaded trailer anywhere that day.

It has been stated many times that it was unusual for her to use Kaine’s truck. She primarily drove her red mustang. Which by the way, would have been very unsuitable for driving on old logging roads off of Hwy 30. MOO.

you would think digging a hole somewhere would be too obvious and get you caught..except out there you might be able to blend in because there is a lot of earthmoving going there all the time.
it's kinda of necessary to maintain things. it's a very damp place anywhere near the coast..building , logging, re-enforcing inclines, roads..yards..agriculture, logging...you get my drift. Hmmm...that is so suss...I wonder about this a lot now..surely they checked out the tractor rental? mOO

His last sentence has a double meaning for me. Despite the largest investigation in the state of Oregon’s history. Fifteen years later, no other POI has been announced. I hope DA Vasquez follows through on his commitment to Kyron.

The impact of the Casey Anthony verdict back in 2010, supposedly affected this case as well. Hopefully this new DA finds a way to file charges and actually prosecute.

But also 75% of Multnomah county is forest. You wouldn’t need a tractor to hide anything and it would even make it harder since much of the forest land would be impossible to navigate with a tractor. You can see in this aerial image how densely forested much of the land between Skyline Elementary and Sauvie Island is. Not to mention, the Willamette river and other waterways are also right there. Fresh digging with a tractor would be easily spotted as compared to finding anything in the forests in and around Portland. Jmo

this is true, yes on this..it's very interesting..it is all very weird. I have a friend who has a great deal of property there. what if the tractor was something like a root digger? I don't know my tractor varieties..mOO

Idk - ask your friend to verify - but my observation is that the forests here aren’t flat land with trees. There are generally ravines, gullies, ledges, erosion with steep drops etc. all densely populated with giant trees. You couldn’t just drive any large anything very far in without clearing the land first.

Matt the logging areas go up the sides of the mountains there, Mount Hood etc..it is not flatland it is almost vertical in some areas. but there are other areas too. and there are some clearings depending where you are. It is a rainforest and Multnomah Falls are magnificent.

I'm curious why you say "tractor rental?"

The Hormans owned a John Deere tractor. Kaine was awarded that tractor (along with the pickup) in the property settlement of his divorce from Terri. Terri got the red mustang.

I have followed this case since the beginning and it is the case that brought me to Websleuths. My son was the same age as Kyron when this happened and he was doing his science fair project so it hit very close to home. I was just recently visiting family and went to Skyline Elementary. While I know a lot of things point to Terri being involved, I don't think she took him from the school. I think either she had a plan with someone or it was an opportunity that presented itself to a pedophile. I do think law enforcement focused on only one person too soon. When I recently visited the school to me it seemed like it could have been the perfect storm of opportunity for someone to grab him. There was no sign in for visitors and all were welcome. There is a lot of property and not a lot of houses around. I think if it wasn't planned it very well could have been an opportunity for an abduction. It is all very said and I hold out hope that they find Kyron one of these days.

Exactly. Not just their quasi person of interest, but any evil person could hide anything from humans along those roads in the forest duff, it would be almost fool proof.
I hope they walked dogs along every possible route. If they didn't, they still should with a second look, as dogs can find civil war dead.

Curious about when the abduction could have occurred. I need to go back and refresh my memory. I remember she Terri she watched him walk towards his classroom?

Was he walking to another floor? Was it only steps away on the same floor?

an unknown person was not noticed by anyone
Kyron was never seen with an unknown person

Kyron was only seen with Terri
Terri's car was noticed
Terri was identified as the person in the parking lot with Kyron.

so, I don't believe an unknown predator left the building with Kyron.
I don't believe an unknown predator targeted the only child who had a FAKE doctor's appointment
that morning.

Here's a question: If TMH was driving the white pickup On June 4, 2010 because she planned to pickup Kyron and his Science Fair project at the end of the day (the reason she gave Kaine for needing the pickup), then after TMH emailed the teacher and learned that Science Fair projects were to be picked up some later date, HOW was Kyron supposed to receive the message that he was to get on the bus rather than wait for his mother to pick him up with his project?

What was the basis for TMH and Kaine expecting Kyron to be on that bus if Kyron began school that day under the assumption that he and his project were going home in the pickup?

Any attempt to get a message to Kyron would have surfaced the reality that he wasn't there at school once classes began.

Ita. I also don’t think it makes any sense for a pedophile to target that school on that day. If the goal was a school in a remote location where no one is around, why do it on a day when the school was packed with people?
If the goal was to hide in a crowd, why not do it at a school smack in the middle of a busy residential neighborhood - there are plenty to choose from - during of drop off/pick up. Not to mention, plenty of kids walk and bike to school through quiet neighborhoods. A crime of opportunity would be a predator seeing a child walking alone - not seeing a busy school packed with parents.
On the other hand, if you were the responsible parent, trying to shift the blame and responsibility for the abduction to the school makes a lot of sense. Jmo
