VISITS TO DRUDGE 7/17/12

030,911,696 IN PAST 24 HOURS
886,185,928 IN PAST 31 DAYS
10,258,778,791 IN PAST YEAR

We can use the Internet all we want to check "facts." then our neighbor will use the same Internet to dispute our "facts." Then we chase our tails, a la the DWT.

This is not an efficient, functional method for the true facts to enlighten the public and allow it to make informed public decisions. Chaos is the result. We are seeing it in all facets of American life.

I also think we will be finding out about many more victims by BSL.
I cannot imagine that he sexually assaulted a teen in 1999, was named a tier 3 SO, and did not commit any other sex crimes until 2012.

Even though I said earlier that I had faith in that particular IND reporter to have a credible source, I politely requested that another news outlet confirm/deny their knowledge of this tidbit. So for those who still have doubts, maybe that will help. Will post if I get word back from them, or I see them release anything on it.

eta: without knowing the time Leslie published her article, I'm wondering if that was the speculation/rumor that Charlie was referring to earlier today.

Excellent Post and I am almost positive that everything in your post will prove to be true!!!
This has been my gut feeling from day one, i'm sorry to say. Mickey didn't go out in vain. She very likely took a monster out of society. Now I just hope, if that's the case, we can keep him in there where he belongs.
Wth are we doing letting these offenders out of prison, again and again,..only to end up in a story like this?

thud :what: women'S ids as in plural?

Yep, it's a real shocker :what: but so far, the Independent is the only news source running the story. We shall have to wait and see what transpires.

Someguy said about six months ago he was excited about an opportunity to meet her but she (the biological mother) wasn't. I took it to mean they never did. He did get to meet his biological sister however. I could have misunderstood (I do that a lot) and don't remember his exact words, but that's the jest of it. Also he (Someguy) said she (the biological mother) has other children that she didn't give up for adoption.

ETA: Someguy is the name of a poster who has been verified as a local insider

Could be that bio mom had BSL when she wasn't married or was young. Then had the other children once she was either married or had matured.

Respectfully disagree....

Matt Drudge is a pioneer in Internet editorial discretion.

But on the local level, the level which I was addressing, specifically regarding the beneficial public impact of a well-edited newspaper, the death of the daily newspaper means that we have no editors - a key function of newspapers - as evidenced by the fact that the CajunNet has been driving this case.

We didn't used to have to do all this bootstrapping fact-checking.

That's what newspaper editors were for; emphasis on the word, "were."

Not everyone has the time to do all the fact-checking we do. One reason why the country is plunging into disarray: an uninformed electorate has a hard time governing itself. Chaos is the result.

"The Silent Epidemic of Missing/Murdered Persons across the US, is the definition of chaos, imo"

Chicken Fried, I am very impressed with willingness of the locals/Lafayette community comming forward with information. Imo, this drives the MS Media to ask the hard questions and seek answers. Don't know when Websleuths began the verified locals idea, but it is an excellent idea due to the media silence in past cases..

“Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.

Although Mickey Schunick is the topic of this thread and our primary purpose for being here, other possible victims, and the Public's Safety has to be considered.

OK, a mood-lightener here, and a chicken-fried secret. Y'all are "anonymous" so here's the scoop:

I'm heading to Wal-Mart to buy a couple new pairs of jeans//// old ones are worn out and I'm hard on them.

So.... got tired of my mom and others riding me about my jeans riding low while I'm working out in the yard. The cuts for men for the last few years have been SOOO baggy - they don't fit me. Plus, I don't like the new baggy fit anyway.

So last year at Wal-Mart, after the last scolding from my mom (and it didn't matter how much I tightened the belt, the darn jeans kept riding low), the light bulb went on.

Ohhh, I know I'm going to take so much c*** for this, but at heart I am a no-nonsense problem solver:

.
.
.
.

I walked by the women's section and saw a bunch of jeans on sale that did NOT have all the feminine stitching , etc.... just plain black and blue jeans....

Rermembered my momma's scolding about my baggy jeans.... started looking....

Damn if I'm not a perfect 12P
:woohoo:

They fit great, don't fall down, and no one can ever tell they ain't men's jeans unless I tell them....

With that, I'm off to run and hide in the women's section at Wal-Mart while y'all razz my chicken butt

:takeabow:

Do we know who his father is? Do we know if it is a different father than the other kids? Someguy said he met his sister. Is she from the same father?
Did BSL have issues with having been given up for adoption?
Did BSL have a rough life growing up with his adoptive mother?
Maybe none of these questions have anything to do with why he turned out like he is, but perhaps something caused in him something of a very deep anger towards women.

Okay, here's the deal about newspapers. Gannett started taking over newspapers back in the mid 80s and telling the editors what they could and could not publish. Journalists then knew it was the beginning of the end, and it has been. With modern technology young'ens don't have the desire to cruise through all the news, they want only what they want when they want it. Like the microwave. There is no wandering out to the street early in the morning to grab the newspaper and sitting down with your significant other reading the paper and drinking coffee. Now it is in the shower, make up, Star-Bucks and on to your two jobs. A microwave instant gratification existence. With that we have somehow lost the ability to emphathize or sympathaze with our neighbor -- because we also don't know them. We do not go to church, so basically not only are we losing our news, we losing our churches and community....and ultimately.....why we once were the greatest country on earth. Learn to speak Chinese or....another foreign language....because we are headed to hell in a handbasket and it is our own selfish, greedy, egotistical fault. Where are the patriots when you need one? Not here.

Okay, so much for my newspaper rant. On to Mickey S.

"The dominoes continue to fall"...imo..

http://www.theind.com/news/10964-lavergne-linked-to-other-crimes-against-women

When Lafayette police arrested Lavergne, they searched his home in the Swords area of rural St. Landry Parish. Among items taken was an undisclosed number of women’s IDs, according to sources with information of the ongoing investigation.

John Douglas' Mind Hunter

Closing In

In his 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit, John Douglas describes his initial profile of Alaska's suspected serial murderer Robert Hansen.
*****
As the profile progressed, Douglas told investigators that if Hansen was the killer, he was probably a "saver" and would be keeping small souvenirs from his victims.
*****
Investigators found weapons throughout the house, but nothing to implicate Hansen in any of the murders. Then, just as they were about to call it a day, one of the officers discovered a hidden space tucked away in the attic rafters. Within it, they discovered a Remington 552 rifle;

a Thompson contender 7-mm single-shot pistol; an aviation map, with specific locations marked off; various pieces of jewelry; newspaper clippings; a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun; a driver's license, and various ID cards, some of which belonged to the dead women
read more..

OT- I once met John Douglas.

Lots of people think he's an *******. I have everything he ever wrote & some signed books. Whether or not anyone thinks he's an *******, there's no doubt he's a pioneer.

I have to admit, the report about alleged findings at BSL's house is intriguing, IF TRUE. On the other hand, the reporting publication is not MSM. For the moment, the information should not be stated as fact in our discussions.

Personally, I'm always skeptical or articles that claim to scoop a big story but use vague terms and lack direct quotes.

As an adoption/reunion self-proclaimed knowledgable in the field, i can answer these questions. We know he had 2 stepfathers, both named lavergne. He has a biological sister, I am assuming same mother/father or at minimum same bio mother.

I personally believe ALL children who are adopted have adoption-related issues (such as rejection, alienation, sexual-identity issues which are very well documented), and there is rumor that he burned down the family home twice. I would say there are issues. He most definitely has an issue with anger towards women. I would call this at 15% adoption issues, 15% environmental issues and 70% genetic (his bio father most likely has severe issues with women, but we don't know who that is, and may never know).

This is my opinion only and I am not degreed in this area however I have been doing adoption/reunion work for over 30 years now and I know an adoption-related issue when I smell one.
