right, but did they ever say that they knew his whereabouts via GPS or onstar, or are we just assuming that? is it possible that it's ONLY his cell phone pings? they never said that either, right? all we KNOW is that they can place him at WB, right?

excuse all my right question marks. LOL i'm just trying to figure out what LE has actually told us

personally, i think he had a Garmin type deal that was removable and that he removed it from his old truck when he removed his other belongings (CDs, tools etc) OR they know the location from him using maps on his phone. you know when it says "use your current location"
AFAIK, they haven't said anything about how they placed him at Whiskey Bay. It's been assumption that it's GPS.

Oh I totally think he'll be indicted. Craft didn't say they rushed to the grand jury, but that they were in a position to rush to pick him up before word spread around.

I wonder how long you can hold someone before putting the case before a grand jury.

thanks. there has been so much talk about GPS that I wasn't sure anymore if we knew for certain that was how they placed him there.

It was watched religiously there for a while

BTW, I wanted to tell you the other day but I was sick in bed and on my phone and it was too hard to type - so I was mostly reading.

BUT. I remember you saying about how you feared that you posting here prompted reporters to pull the police report out of New Orleans. And I wanted you to know that I had heard about his visit to Oschners at least two days before you posted here, if not more, through the CajunNet™. So don't beat yourself up. Word was already on the street.

I appreciate you posting here with us. :)

KKDJ, do you have a link for that quote?

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I was out with the fam.
Anyway, I am not sure how to link. But here is what I read from the article:

"We were only involved today when they told us they had a search warrant for this residence and it's in St. Landry Parish, so we have to be here. We're
considering this a crime scene," Vizena said, adding that she knew little about the search. Lafayette Police Department spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton, "did confirm that this is new evidence. They're going room to room, looking for evidence."

An RSO selling fake ID's to teens?

Well he does other things an RSO should not be doing...anyway it was just a wild idea as to why he might have a stash...plus a way to meet young girls...

I believe that, in Louisiana, a grand jury has a 3rd option along with true bill and no bill. Maybe to delay making a decision at the time...? Anybody know for sure?

Off to look for more info ...

Quoting my own post to add a little info that I found at:

http://law.justia.com/codes/louisiana/2009/ccrp/ccrp444.html

At the link, info says a La. grand jury can act on a matter in one of three ways:

(1) By returning a true bill;
(2) By returning not a true bill; or
(3) By pretermitting entirely the matter investigated.
OK, I admit -- I had to look up the meaning of pretermit!! According to the site linked below, it means (just in case anybody else here didn't already know:D):

1. To disregard intentionally or allow to pass unnoticed or unmentioned.
2. To fail to do or include; omit.
3. To interrupt or terminate.
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/pretermit

So, I guess the 3rd option is not too likely in this case... . (I do wonder how often it is used and when it comes into play, though.) I don't think this option is available in many states -- could be unique to Louisiana, but not sure.

ETA:
OK, just found an example (a case reported by MSM at link below) where the 3rd option occurred -- and it does seem that, in effect, as I was originally thinking, it can just delay the decision, because after a pretermit decision, apparently charges may still be filed at a later time:

... Pretermit is a determination by the Grand Jury that the evidence at present does not support either True Bill or No True Bill and is a formal determination to not file charges at the present time. ...

(NOTE: Last link not related to this case -- just citing for further explanation of grand jury pretermit decision)
