Mickey,
Two months ago today you set out for an evening of fun, good times, and great friends.
With a carefree attitude and faith in the goodness of the people of our community you embarked into the night on a short trip home.
By circumstances not of your choosing, you never made it physically back to a family
who loves you dearly.
Wherever you are Mickey, may your spirit join others of love, of life, of kindness, and compassion and be as one with our Creator, and brightly shine light on and expose evidence and truth in the days ahead. May the people entrusted to bring justice for your loss be given knowledge to make wise, as well as fair decisions.May your family, friends and our community find comfort, peace and truth in the days ahead and may we have your strength, courage, and compassion as we seek and find the cause for your
disappearance.
Two months ago many of us had no idea who you were; since then you have touched the lives of countless people. May we continue to express your love of people, animals, and adventure and radiate sunshine, happiness and joy.

:heartbeat::star2::heartbeat: :grouphug: :heartbeat::star2::heartbeat:

Thank you for sharing such beautiful sentiments :rose:

I'm confused, the WWL article says 2nd degree murder. Did I miss something?

I know, I saw that. This is the first time 2nd degree murder has been mentioned in print. I think that this is WWL's error. It will be interesting to see if they correct this and what other MSM outlets report following the grand jury today.

I was thinking about all this on my way in to work. BSL certainly seems to have spent a great deal of time in Lafayette, considering his nearest town is Opelousas. I never thought he was the brightest crayon in the box, but it surely seems like a boneheaded thing to do to buy a new truck in the same city where he committed his crime(s), where much of the city is on high alert searching for a missing girl. Perhaps his circle of comfort doesn't extend as far as some may think. JMO

AFAIK, they haven't said anything about how they placed him at Whiskey Bay. It's been assumption that it's GPS.

Being he was injured enough to get treated at the hospital, I think, and this is moo, that he left blood at wb. I posted this a while back. It makes sense y'all. Especially since I saw an article that stated the search dogs "hit" on blood there. They stated it could have came from a fisherman. I'm off to Google to find that article. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please help

Shreveport Times- Grand Jury to hear Lavergne case today...
http://www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20120718/NEWS03/120718005/Grand-jury-hear-Lavergne-case-today?odyssey=nav%7Chead

This afternoon, Assistant District Attorney Keith Stutes will present the state's case against Lavergne to the grand jury. The defense does not present evidence, ask questions or have the opportunity to object during a grand jury hearing. Next, the grand jury is left alone to deliberate and make a decision, Cedars said.

Nine must agree either to issue a true bill, giving the OK to proceed with prosecution; a no true bill, in which the jury decides there's not enough evidence to proceed to trial; or pretermit, which is a delay in a decision while awaiting additional information.

"If they return a no true bill, I think he walks," Cedars said last week, then backtracked. "That's a tough question. I've never had that."

"She said police arrived that afternoon and the sheriff told her that they were investigating an "accident that happened in Lafayette," and that she should not be scared."
An ACCIDENT?
"Still, Shirley worried, especially because Lavergne and the woman who often lived with him seemed so unassuming and quiet." (page 2)

I missed this!
hmmm...

I'm inclined to believe the word used was probably "incident" and that the lady misheard.

They need to make the pockets in women's jeans bigger. Stuff keeps falling out.
:furious:

How do you think all those women's IDs fell out in BSL's midst? :waitasec:

Ill be skeptical of the ID rumors until it's on MSM. So far LE has been right lipped and had only released info to 2 news stations. Why would they release to a station/paper (whatever it is) that had a not so positive reputation? Personally, I don't doubt the info, especially since every other rumor has proven to come true later, but just not through a media outlet. Also I would think news would spread quickly if those IDs do belong to other missing girls as those families deserve to know ASAP. Time will tell... Hopefully we will have some new info tomorrow.

It might just be a coincidence, but on the Holly Bobo thread the searches have started again and the family is speaking out. According to one poster they want the entire story of what happened that morning released and believe its way overdue. I'm just wondering if somehow its tied in. I know Parsons is a long way from Lafayette, but maybe her case investigators are some of the ones that LE has been in touch with about the ID's.JMO

So the Grand Jury may not even come back with an answer today?

Does anyone know what time this case will be handed to them? This 'change' in charges, Murder 1 to murder 2 is making me nauseous. What can that even mean?

LE has seemed confident about this charge,...but I guess now we can only wait. I'm anxious!

Being about Brandon's age and living just around the corner from him (a little further from Lafayette) I don't think it's unusual at all for him to hang out in Lafayette, honestly. Someone mentioned that it would make more sense for him to visit the coffee shop in Eunice than Lafayette and I have to respectfully disagree. I live in Eunice and can't tell you the last time I've been to their coffee shop although I go to the ones in Lafayette fairly often. Atmosphere id totally different. There is just nothing for young people to do around here. Most of the college by here head to Lafayette on weekends. So do their moms to go shopping.

Opelousas isn't a bad place to live but I'd definitely make the 20 minute drive to Lafayette to hang out, go out to eat, catch a movie, visit with friends, etc. I nearly always do unless I'm on my lunch break. There are a few bars around here but the atmosphere is much different than those in Lafayette. I wouldn't go to any of them, that's for sure. Just my two cents.

Buying a car in Lafayette... I agree that was weird but I bet he couldn't find one that he wanted in Opelousas. A used one very similar to his other truck that burned? I'm car shopping now for a specific vehicle and haven't found anything close to what I want I'm Opelousas. Lafayette has much more selection.

In June, investigators called in Special K-9’s, a search group based in The Woodlands, to scour the area around Whisky Bay in search of remains. Jana Bickel, the group’s founder, said they took six of their trained dogs who searched the land and water in the area. The dogs alerted on a few spots on the land and one on the water, but none were productive. The dogs are trained to distinguish the scent of human remains from that of animals, Bickel said.

However, she said, they also detect blood and since the area is a sort of fishing camp, they may have alerted on where a fisherman cut himself or some other injury that drew blood. Therefore, the hits may or may not have been related to Shunick.

Hi All. New on the boards, but have been lurking for some time.

I know we are way past some of the 1st details of the case but a lot about some of the earliest information is what is sticking with me the most.

Throwing in my 2 cents, I really don't feel like LE know his whereabouts due to cell phone pings. If he was smart enough to turn off hers, one can only assume he would have turned his off as well, especially if he was trolling as LE suspect.Which leaves GPS or witnesses.

One thing that really bothers me about the whole case is the abduction. Being as BSL had to not only get Mickey in the truck but also her bike, would leave one to suspect that she was maybe knocked unconscious when he hit her? To me that doesn't make sense if his main reason for abducting her was for his RSO reasons.

Also I have seen posts on here indicating that LE were only conducting searches in the local area? Has this been printed or stated as fact or was that the assumption since that's where TES is at the moment?

I hope it is a typo..
Guess, it may be easier to get a true bill, & if they suspect he has multiple victims, he will be behind bars til investigated thoroughly..

He probably made a lot of calls to numerous dealerships in order to locate a truck as close to identical as possible to the one he disposed of. He was very likely desperate to get a replacement and Don's Wholesale (a used care dealer) must have had one on the lot.
