What exactly is CajunNet?

CajunNet is gossip. Think of it like a huge game of telephone. Except in this case, what we are hearing when the gossip gets spread around has been eerily accurate.

BSL, may have thought he was home free at this point causing him to feel very brazen.. Very proud of himself at his calculating creativity and wit to out smart the police.

The pattern of jurisdictional linkage blindness to eliminate evidence illustrates his cunning deviant behavior, imo..

In his mind, he had successfully duped two detectives at the NOLO hospital with his clever mugging/stabbing ruse, passed his quarterly RSO interview unscaved, destroyed his DWT/with incriminating forensics evidence, duped TX investigators with his stolen DWT ruse, placed her remains in a well hidden location, and now he has an insurance check for a new vehicle replacement.

'In his mind', to add icing on the cake. What would be better for his ego than to taunt investigators, and verify his superior prowess, than to purchase the identical DWT, in the same location, and in the same police jurisdiction as the original crime occurred?..

"Imo, the only factor that BSL did not consider in this equation was that good always triumphs over evil"..

If he had gotten away with murder before? It could have definitely added to his arrogance, right?

Based on your link specific to Louisiana: Definitely 1st degree and nothing less.
The first few lines of the definition capture all that is needed in this case for 1st Degree. If I were a juror, I would understand it and so would non-educated jurors.

Based on what I have seen in this case, I agree 1st degree murder (and I think that the WWL report of 2nd degree was a typo). I do believe that there was intent and planning. But, let's say BSL claims that this was an accident and in his panic he disposed of her body (and the evidence can't prove to the jury otherwise) then the conviction could be 2nd degree. Heck, he could say that she drowned in the family pool; his father disposed of her body... AND the jury could believe this. Crazy things like this happen in the US court system. :banghead:

5 hours until GJ- Any chance we will get any new info today? It's been two months and I really hope those searchers have some good leads and find Mickey soon! IMO BSL is not gonna help with that.

Wondering if his lawyers will tell BSL the evidence against him. Praying he will sing.

Hmm...vacuum cleaner, perhaps? No doubt there'd be a treasure trove of evidence in there, were there any to be had.

My bold above.

It must be very ego-gratifying to such a person that there have been hundreds, no probably thousands of searchers out looking, all the hours spent, the effort, and the missing person not found.

Also, I think that the longer an investigation goes on, the more it boosts their ego.

with 1st degree murder you can get the death penalty or life in prison w/o parole depending what the jury hands down..2nd degree is life in prison w/o parole....so either one would be pretty bad.

http://theadvocate.com/news/3373139-123/judge-sets-hearing-on-bond

District Attorney Mike Harson said in an email Monday that a preliminary examination or the request for one generally is vacated upon the issuing of a grand jury indictment, “since the indictment generally satisfies the question of probable cause.”

On Tuesday, Harson wrote in an email that Lavergne will not be invited to the grand jury proceeding.

* “It’s not unusual, particularly in a first-degree murder charge, that the suspect will not be invited to the grand jury and he does not have a right to attend,” Harson wrote.

Today is a big day. I've been following in the background from the beginning. I finally registered because I had a little personal info on the TES horse-use topic yesterday. When TES was here in the beginning and still located at Wisdom, I lent two of my horses and trailer to them for use in searches. TES was unable to bring all of their horses due to trailer shortage or some other issues. My horses were ridden by locals who were friends of MS through the stables.

There are many types of horses that are well-suited for this type of work - think police horses - calm, thinking horses. Someone mentioned injuries (and one of my horses did actually step through a foot bridge and received a few minor scratches) but in my opinion, horses are extremeley capable of trudging through brush/vines/water to search. They can get in many places ATVs cannot.

I don't know MS but because I am involved in horses I know many people who do. It really pains me that her young friends are so torn up over this terrible crime and they really need her back. Bring her home.

Thank you for allowing me to participate in WS.

Thanks for that! I was one of the people having questions about the horses, because I was a horse "owner" for a long time. I said they can access all kinds of terrain, in all kinds of weather.

I asked a question about the horses' sense of smell. I know that they sense danger, but I wondered if they also can have a reaction to finding a body, for instance.

Thanks in advance.

I wonder how exactly the media will be covering the GJ today...

According to this:
The public, the news media, and the person being investigated have no right to be present.
http://public.findlaw.com/abaflg/flg-15-2b-6.html

Will they just report after it's said and done whether GJ declared true bill/no true bill ? Or will there be some steady stream of info during?

No, it was at the victim's house.

Shreveport Times- Grand Jury to hear Lavergne case today...
http://www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20120718/NEWS03/120718005/Grand-jury-hear-Lavergne-case-today?odyssey=nav%7Chead

This afternoon, Assistant District Attorney Keith Stutes will present the state's case against Lavergne to the grand jury. The defense does not present evidence, ask questions or have the opportunity to object during a grand jury hearing. Next, the grand jury is left alone to deliberate and make a decision, Cedars said.

Nine must agree either to issue a true bill, giving the OK to proceed with prosecution; a no true bill, in which the jury decides there's not enough evidence to proceed to trial; or pretermit, which is a delay in a decision while awaiting additional information.

"If they return a no true bill, I think he walks," Cedars said last week, then backtracked. "That's a tough question. I've never had that."

If he walks, he better run.

No matter innocent until proven guilty - this town will lynch him.

Given the level of public anger I've seen - and driving down Johnston St. - one of the main streets in town, and seeing the store marquee that spelled out in big black letters, "BRANDON SCOTT LAVERGNE BURN IN HELL," for all the town to see, my gut tells me there will be a change of venue, so as not to endanger the case.

If he walks, he will be in hiding like George Zimmerman and Casey Anthony.
