What creeps me out so much about Brandon is he has "that" creepy smirk and those eyes that every notorious killer has ever had.

Brandon might have gotten caught with Mickey, but I don't think we should assume he is "dumb". He went this long without being caught, while most serial killers were only caught because they killed in such a short time span, while BSL was unable to do so because he was imprisoned.

I think Brandon is far from being stupid, and that is another reason he is so scary.

Call me crazy but I don't see a smirk. He looks exhausted to me.

Lisa Pate last seen late June and killed July 3. My opinion on this: Her brother was quoted as saying drug abuse and the lifestyle that goes with it is what killed her and her family has said she did not show up for her son's birthday party. She may not have been raising her children as I also read she spent some time in jail the year prior. Maybe they last saw her late June and maybe her son's birthday is July 3, something she would not have missed and possibly date reported missing.

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe he got caught this time because he graduated to abducting and murdering someone that wouldn't just disappear for no reason. Lots of serial killers elude capture because they kill runaways, prostitutes, and drug addicts.

Kate, you might want to add Victoria Deann Sunday to your list. She went missing in Conroe, TX in April, 1999, and her skeletal remains were found in October, 2001.

Thanks, bessie. Will do. I haven't done any of the unsolved homicides yet. Or the unidentified persons found. I'm going slow, hoping he didn't take victims out of Louisiana. But if we learn he did, we'll need a separate thread. That's a long list and gets longer if you expand just a little & get Ft Worth, Dallas, Galveston & Houston.

Drug addicts, especially, simply aren't missed for quite a while when they suddenly disappear out of the blue. It is a common thing for people who go on binges.

They may never actually be reported missing, at least some of them.

Smile, smirk or frown -- IMO, it's hard to take a good mugshot pic! Somebody's not gonna like it! (a little levity here, folks, no offense intended)

I believe Mickey was killed within hours of the kidnapping; everything we know of that BL did points to ridding himself of evidence and creating an alibi, or trying to, for injuries possibly made by Mickey. He was in "post-crime" mode almost at once, IMO. I believe she is probably not far from WB or somewhere along his route home, again JMO.

I hope we learn more about how much investigation was done re: Lisa's murder at the time. Was it just a suspicion based on him being seen with her, or more than that?

Also, if he did have a safe deposit box while in prison, it is possible LE did not know about it, or think to check. And they may not have been able to get a warrant for it, even if they did, maybe not enough probable cause. So he may have been able to stash some "prized possessions" which may have been found in the recent search of his home.

"100, 000+ Missing/murdered across the USA; The Silent Epidemic"
Imo, it would be impossible to acurately estimate the active serial predators/killers in the USA. Imo, the numbers are increasing due to the meth epidemic. Meth is the common denominator found in most serial killers since the 1980s...

http://dianedimond.net/americas-serial-killers-how-many/

John Douglas, a former Chief of the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit and author of

FBI Special Agent John Douglas

“Mind Hunter” says, “A very conservative estimate is that there are between 35-50 active serial killers in the United States” at any given time. Often, Douglas told me, they will, “kill 2-3 victims and then have a “cooling-off” period between kills.”

Why do you think meth has increased the number of SKs?

Speaking of mugshots: Did all those SK mugs blow anybody else's margins?

Do not mean to speculate, but since his involvement with Lisa Pate was quickly ruled out so long ago, can we say for certain that the whole day it took LE to rule out any connection between Mickey and Lauren Spierer might also be being overlooked?

I know in the case of Lauren, it was said that the white truck on surveillance was questioned, and he was "picking up a friend that night". Was it like how he was "visiting a friend" in New Orleans when he was mugged?

The thing about Laurens case that makes me think it is not connect to BSL is the fact that the boys she was with that night haven't cooperated with LE and lawyered up, etc. Someone who was with her that night knows what happened to her and imo it is not good. :( In most cases I've read about missing people/murders its pretty obvious who the guilty party is when the last person/people seen with the victim and/or close friends are uncooperative with LE and the family as well as just getting a lawyer and refuse to say anything! It's messed up and not fair! Compared to Mickeys friends who raised so much awareness and were so helpful from the start. It's just so sad now how devastated her close friends must feel especially BW, poor guy.

I don't think it has increased the number of serial killers. I believe a serial killer is likely to be drawn to a drug like meth because they are able to stay up for days at a time, hunting.

  • #311
Really? Just because he has all the traits that you recognize? I'll compare him to the other 35-50 Serial Killers the FBI says are running around the US actively. He has been a LE suspect for 13 years for god sakes lolol? How smart is he?

Yet, wasn't on LE's radar in the Mickey Schunick abduction until the two public tips?
Imo, this indicates his brazen attitude. BSL, didn't know that he wasn't on their radar, but continued his evil deeds...

Serial killers that don't dump bodies in "public" places hoping they will be found, tend to dump bodies in places known to them; places that mean something.

And meth. Alters your brain chemicals so you actually stop caring for people. Like you cant even recovnize their hurt or anguish. Even from your kids.

MUG SHOT GONE? I can't get it to come up!

I know he was in the military for a period (brief?) of time...was Fort Polk the only place he was ever stationed? Anyone know?
I think he was NOT in the military very long. Pretty sure he never deployed... but then again it was 1999 pre 9/11
Cant believe they printed who he was married to, thats the first I see of her name. Bet she's not happy.
Pay attention and get to know a man before you marry him!
She'll be ok! ~ he's behind bars forever now!
I heard that thru the cajunnet as well
Me too...
(a little different version.)
This is STRICTLY MY OPINION AND NOTHING MORE. I have no idea why, but I seriously believe that he probably does have pictures of his victims somewhere. Whether or not police have found any, I have no idea. But with the bloodied pictures of him that were alledgedly found, I have to wonder. Assuming he took those pictures of what many of us think she did to him, does it seem unlikely that he also would have taken pics of what he did to her?? Again, this is just my opinion, but it is a feeling that wont go away.
Most serial killers do! This is what I believe "nailed him"
IMO We don't need a body! He snapped a moment in time and that is all LE needed.
IMO he has been doing it since he got out! Maybe the very day he got out!
He decided to up the ante and started playing games with LE.
Too bad BIG BROTHER has cams everywhere now!
His ultimate adrenaline "RUSH" after his of so insignificant charge on altering an RSO ID was when LE
walked in and said "we got ya!"
I'm sure he thought they were too stupid to find his "stash"
Sorry BSL!!! The ultimate "rush"
is the one the SK's get by telling LE how your mind
works and outing you!

~all MOO!:moo:

And yet people still give Ritalin and the like to their children, even though it is basically meth.

Just found out that my mother in laws husband is Pate's brother. They had no idea this was going on until the news broke the story.😔Sad situation.

  • #319
He was dumb when he killed Mickey, but he has remained undetected prior to that other than his RSO status and conviction, of course. But, it is likely there were other victims and that went undetected.

Something threw him off that night.

Ms. Pate's brother said something to the effect that his sister's lifestyle involving drug abuse was what killed her. When drug addicts or prostitutes are murdered, it seems like few people care, and many of the serial killers who have racked up extremely high murder tallies targeted women with severe problems: drug addicts, prostitues, runaways, etc.

When BSL saw Mickey out late at night, he could have gotten the wrong impression, believing he was targeting another woman with serious problems, who society wouldn't truly care about. Making such a miscalculation and attacking a "regular girl next door" caused the ensuing tidal wave of concern and support, made finding the perp an urgent social matter, and ended BSL's hobby of destruction.

  • #320
Has it been discussed whether BSL did drugs or took any medication? I saw SomeGuys post about how he didn't drink or didn't drink much and he broke up with a girl because she drank a lot/was a partier. Is this an okay thing to discuss or has there not been any articles/quotes about this?

It's interesting to me that he didn't drink or maybe he tried to apear that he didn't drink? As I think most/many SK are alcoholics or have some kind of substance abuse problem.
