LA - Baton Rouge. 3 officers killed/3 wounded, 17 July 2016

"Although investigators did not immediately divulge the shooter’s motive, Long repeatedly expressed his dismay at law enforcement in online posts, video blogs and to online radio host Lance Scurvin....."

Scurvin is distancing himself but said,

"“We had spoke on the phone privately — randomly. He wrote a book and he sent it to me.”

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/baton-rouge-shooter-gavin-long-article-1.2715013

Scurvin had something up on his page asking if the killings of the Dallas cops was karma. If you put @LanceScurv in twitter you can see it. Apparently he is live on the air right now talking about the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

I think his motives are clear:

MSM is reporting this :

Using the pseudonym “Cosmo Setepenra”, Long, 29, railed in a series of videos, photographs and online writings at perceived injustices against black people.
“You gotta fight back,” he urged viewers in a video recorded a week ago.

So I would think, the shootings by LE recently are a core part of this story - in that according to him he was fighting back today.

moo

I still am surprised because he seems so inspirational. Such a leader of men! The one with answers. He seems like he would like to continue to pontificate and be famous. Do you think he thought he would get away?

Or did something happen in his life that made him go from blah blah to action?

I wonder if he continued more and more into madness. He thought he was sooooooooo important that he he was being monitored. There are other people who are paranoid like that and it seems like they erupt. Like the Unabomber.

So strange that he goes from Mr Kmow it all to killer who will die.

(O/T, reminder to anyone who has been here all day and neglected all their Sunday duties (like me), to put a load of clothes in the washer so you and/or your DH have clean clothes for the work week!)

(I am not minimizing the seriousness of all this because it is all VERY SERIOUS, just wanted to remind you guys so you don't have to do the smell test tomorrow and wear dirty clothes!)

Based on his last tweet, it's pretty obvious he planned to die today.

I hate how "famous" he is going to become in death. And how many people just like him are going to see him as a hero. The cycle will continue. It makes me angry.

From Wikipedia:
The Washitaw Nation, or Washitaw de Dugdahmoundyah, is a group of Black Americans that claim to be a sovereign Native American nation within the boundaries of the United States.[1] Their name is taken from that of the Ouachita tribe,[2] who are also eponymous of the Washita River and of Washita, Oklahoma. It is part of the Sovereign citizen movement, a movement that believes its members are not subject to any statutes or proceedings at the federal, state, or municipal levels.[3][4]

Ah, okay. Maybe 'new freedom' movement was a general term rather than a specific name.

When I worked as a title examiner, very rarely I would come across an affidavit filed by one of these types of groups. One time it was a group from Alaska, filing it for some bizarre reason in our county in Ohio. They'd file these long affidavits that were basically like their own little declarations of independence. Why they filed them with our county recorder who had no jurisdiction over them and whose authority they don't apparently recognize anyway? No idea, but it was interesting. Mostly, it looked like they just didn't want to have to pay taxes.

I was having a nice day with my family when the breaking news came in.

I don't often cry but I have cried uncontrollably today not only for the innocent police officers and their families but for my entire country. Never ever did think I would see a time of such a violent crisis where our innocent police officers are shot down in cold blood over and over again. I cry because I feel so helpless and don't know how to stop this madness which has filled our streets with blind hatred and pure evil.

Our police officers now don't even have time to grieve losing recent murdered officers before more are cut down by being ambushed all due to senseless evil hatred that is gripping our country.

Our police officers no matter where they are and no matter how much they try to protect all of us are the very ones now who needs more protection than anyone. Who is going to protect them from this evil anarchy that has besieged our nation? God help us all.

Our streets are turning red with blood of so many innocent officers caught in the crossfire of hate.

I thought of PC David Brown today and how his heart must be broken all over again so soon.:(

My heartfelt appreciation, thoughts, and prayers are with the Baton Rouge officers who were murdered today and their families. I pray for a fully recovery for the other three officers. I also pray for ALL police officers across our nation. I have never been worried more than I am now about their safety. I don't see how they can even keep their mental wits about them as they go about day after day protecting all of us knowing each one of them at anytime can become targets in order to satisfy the hatred in the hearts of those who wish to take their lives.

Our country is crashing and going down in flames. :( We must find a way to end this violent lawless madness we are experiencing. There have been so many cops being shot recently that have ended in multiple murders or the officers have sustained such grave injuries where they will need medical lifelong treatment, that I can even keep up with all the cases anymore. There are just too many of them for me to keep up with each one.:( My heart weeps for all of them.

A mere thank you for this outstanding post was not enough.
I feel that this very post should be on the first page of every single LE shooting on this site.
You have written the undeniable truth.

Good question! How'd he publish a book? Where was he making a living? What was he doing to make money? How did he have the funds to travel extensively throughout the US & other countries?

He was funded?????? 🤔 JMO

Lance Scurv youtube radio show:

"After being bombarded by countless phone calls by countless Mainstream Media New Outlets, LanceScurv now understands that one of his guests, known as Cosmo, is alleged shooter who supposedly killed 3 police officers in the Baton Rouge shooting earlier today."

Edited to add: not sure a screen shot is allowed....so I deleted the link.

Investigators found on the body of the dead shooter Gavin Long a card suggesting he was a member of the Washitaw Nation. #BatonRouge

<BBM for Focus>

This explains a lot, Deja vu imo. I have been researching the Nuwaubian Nation of Moors for 2+ years which have beliefs synonymous to the Washitaw Nation
. The Nuwaubian Cult's prophet/leader Dwight Malachi York was sentenced to 135 years in Federal Super-Max CO in 2002.

Ungodly Trailer. Mark Osinski . <Based on a book by AJC Reporter Bill Osinski>

Websleuths - Nuwaubian Nation of Moors
http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?251809-Nuwaubian-Cult

In the late 1980s, York borrowed from numerous religious and esoteric traditions beyond Islam, creating the "Nuwaubian" movement. York styled his movement in a mixture of Ancient Egypt and Native American themes. York changed his legal name again, from "Issa Al Haadi Al Mahdi" to "Malachi York," effective March 12, 1993.[11]

"Malachi York came up with the idea to move down South ... because he was under FBI investigation
," Rohan said. "He provided us as his followers the bogus rationale that we were moving down South to meet our spiritual parents. (He) always was quick to forget that he gave more than one reason for many changes that he introduced throughout the organization."

After moving to Georgia, York and his followers claimed affiliation with Masons and with the Jewish, Christian and Egyptian faiths. "Once he started changing religious ideas, the older followers became skeptical and left the group," Rohan said. "That was what happened to me."[12]

Among its themes, the Nuwaubians borrowed a claim to indigenous ancestry, perhaps from the Washitaw Nation (a Louisiana Black separatist group led by an eccentric 'empress'). They claimed to be indigenous people, named Yamasee (claiming affiliation with the confederation of Muscogee (Creek) Native American nations in the Georgia area) as well as "Moors." They claimed a prehistoric migration to America "before the continents drifted apart". At this point, the group called itself "Yamassee Native American Moors of the Creek Nation".[13] During the early 2000s, York presided at Tama-Re styled as "Our Own Pharoah NETER A'aferti Atum-Re", leader and chief mystagogue of "The Ancient Egiptian Order."[14]

Well, I'm not convinced all his travels really happened. I would like confirmation.

And, I think self-publishing a book can be done rather inexpensively.

IDK.

I'm hoping that tomorrow, we'll know more.

Thanks Blue, but I wasn't referring to police officers though. I was talking about the other races who are also shot, and killed by police officer more often each year than AAs. I rarely see those cases but then I do know those of other races who have been shot and killed by a cop doesn't seem to get the national media attention nor the outrage.

There is no doubt in my mind that a tiny minority of our nationwide 800K police officers fell through the cracks and shouldn't have ever become officers to begin with. These bad cops shoot people of all races and the bad cops come from all races as well. I detest bad cops as much as I highly admire all the other many thousands of good officers who are nothing like the few bad cops.

Even when we once again have another tragic thread going about another cop/s killing the subject seems to drift to the few bad cops which is totally irrelevant to the honorable officers who have coldly been murdered way too often lately.

If these sick cop hating killers want to murder a cop to appease their blind hatred then why not hunt the one cop down, one at a time, that they actually thought used excessive force when killing a black victim? Why target all cops for what a teeny tiny minority does? That's the part I will never understand. All I know all of these violent acts perpetrated by hatred against all cops in general must stop! Violence, death threats, and intimidation tactics never has solved one thing and it never will. Angry voices of yells/screams/chants and threats aren't a solution for anything. This kind of rhetoric incites more violence committed on those who sacrifice every day to make us all safe and they are the only way for us to maintain a lawful nation. We ask so much of them and give so little in return.:(

Repectfully, there is no "drift" - in Dallas he made it clear he was doing what he was doing in direct repsonse to the events the week earlier. That is not drift - it is direct casue and effect. How can there be a dialog, about the event, without discussing the motivation clearly stated by the perp?

Same here - made references to Alton Sterling, the black man killed by police in Baton Rouge on July 5.

Again , that is not drift - in fact most dialog on threads here, as in life, regard motivation - that is what anyone is attmepting to do when dealing with crime.

Again, repectfully, in all walks of life, in any domain, about anything, IMO ones notions about whatever it is we are referring are flavored by past experiences with whatever is being discussed.

Yes, when I read broad proclamitations that basically do not acknoledge that the system in this country has some very widespread issues. It is not only cops, its the prison system, it the prosctors. Its the judges, it the courts.

As a minority, I def feel, sadly, that I am in a postion to know , to a larger degree than non minorites, what the AA community is living now, and has been for decades. I have lived it.

The truth here, is mainstream society is only being exposed to a very small amount of what is going on here - thanx to cell phones. You bet I welcome cops who engage in crimes ending up in jail.

I certainly hope that noone who hears me says that hears me saying all cops are bad, I do not think that. I feel the same way about MUslims, and have "reared up" (ha) when those kind of statements are made.

Its a bright group here - there certainly cannot be folks here, that in the past 18 months can not acknowledge watching the system aquit cop after cop, who , with our own eyes, have seen no threatening behavior to warrent ending up dead.

Then the dialog "drifts" in to all their criminal backgrounds. Irrelvant IMO. When dead, the only thing that matters is what was happening in the 45 seconds before they were murdered. There is a reason for the term "excesive force"

A law enforcement officer has the right to use such force as is reasonably necessary under the circumstances to make a lawful arrest. An unreasonable seizure occurs when a law enforcement officer uses excessive forcein making a lawful arrest.

IMO
