Circumstances of Disappearance

Mr. Dellis' vehicle was found abandoned on a levee in New Orleans. Mills County, Texas authorities are investigating.

He was born and lived in Mills County, Texas (near the border of Oklahoma), the son of Roy Spurgeon and Jessie Mae "Jackie" Dellis (nee Crow). He appears to have married twice: once to a Neala (maiden name unknown) on 2 February in 1973, divorcing her on the 28th of November 1973. He then married Deloris A. Karnes on 12 March 1976. His picture suggests that he was in the military, but no records were found about his military service.

What's even stranger about this case is that, despite the photo, he never served in the military... Furthermore, he was apparently still alive in April 1982, as there's a report that he was mugged at knifepoint in New Orleans... plus, a malformed hand, missing his index finger and with the rest of the bones deformed... Since it was "malformed," it seems to have been congenital (although it could have occurred in adulthood). If it was congenital, it seems highly unlikely that he could have served in the military...
Anyway,
rest in peace

I wondered about the uniform when I read about his hand - that sounds like a disqualifying condition. Stolen valor, maybe?

Assuming I am finding info on the correct person (honestly there is so much misalignment in data between the different sites), this article indicates he enlisted in the Army in/about 1963. I can't speak to his military service, but I can say that in 1983 your photo was taken before you completed training. He is clearly a younger person in the photo. Perhaps he didn't complete training, Or, perhaps he did and there is no record of it for whatever reason - lost, secret, etc.

Is the photo posted by pennysmom1 supposed to be Dellis? If so, there does not appear to be any missing fingers Or a deformed right hand.

The granting of the divorce to "Elaine" was published in the Daily Court Review, 7 Jun 1972, pg 7 (Harris County, TX). Elaine is mentioned in the FB group posting included with the picture already referenced.

I think it may very well be possible that info on two separate individuals may have become intertwined in the posting of data on Clarence Wayne Dellis. There are articles that reference him, articles that reference a "Pete Dellis" from the same town who as a private was married in April 1963 to a gal from the same town - hard to imagine that would not be correct with the ancestry post - I just don't know. They conflict somewhat with info as posted above relative to marriages, etc.,

Who exactly is it that is providing information and photos on this missing person?
