Authorities in St. Bernard Parish are asking for help finding an Arabi woman last seen leaving her home earlier this month.
Neighbors saw Denise Dawn Young, 59, leaving her home in the 600 block of Community Street on Aug. 4, said the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office and Young's daughter, Rachel Bemis.
Bemis said her mother, who has a history of mental illness, left her medications in her house. Neighbors told Bemis they saw Young walking away from her house carrying only her purse. All her belongings, including her cat, were still in her house, Bemis said.
"She just left," Bemis said. "Nobody I've been able to contact has heard from her since."
In the days since her mother was last seen, Bemis said she's called hospitals and jails across the region. She's shared her mother's photo on Facebook in the hopes that someone has seen her.
