A burned body was found Saturday morning on a private road in northeast DeSoto Parish, Sheriff Jayson Richardson said.
The identity of the person is not known, but it appears to be a male, Richardon said.
Oilfield workers made the discovery about mid-morning on a road leading to a gas well location off White Springs Road in Frierson. The road is located about 2 miles north of state Highway 175.
The body was in a wooded area near the road. It may have been there a week to two weeks, Richardson said.
The DeSoto Parish coroner's office sent it for autopsy and identification.
There were no clothing or vehicles in the area, Richardson said.

FRIERSON, La. - DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s deputies are conducting a homicide investigation after charred human remains were found in Frierson this morning, according to Sheriff Jayson Richardson.
A call came into the DPSO came in just before 10:30 a.m. today informing authorities of the burned remains, which were located on a well site off White Springs Road in Frierson.
When they arrived, deputies contacted the DeSoto Parish Coroner’s Office, who determined the remains were human.
