KATC is investigating Acadiana's missing people. The oldest case on the books began 21 years ago when Donna Gonzales went missing. Since then her family has been struggling with many unanswered questions.

Height and Weight at Time of Disappearance: 5'3"; 110 lbs. (NamUs states 110-130 pounds)

Circumstances of Disappearance
Gonzales was last seen in Rayne, Louisiana on April 7, 1992 at 15:00, walking along South Adams Street near Devil's Alley. She was selling insurance policies door to door to businesses in the area.
Her car, a 1982 blue Pontiac Bonneville was found in a parking lot off of Devil's Alley near South Adams Street. The car was found with her purse and driver's license in the trunk. The keys were missing, as well as Gonzales' insurance brief case. There was no sign of struggle at the car.

She had just started her job as an insurance agent, and Tuesday was her first day without her boss accompanying her.

Police are convinced foul play was involved in the disappearance because she was too levelheaded to simply vanish on her own without a trace.

Gonzales had spent three years, from 1989 to 1991, with the Trappistine religious order of sisters in Iowa, contemplating joining the secluded order.

I knew Donna very well, and her beautiful family. I can't even imagine how they get through each day. Very religious, God-loving people; Satan won't shake their faiths. There will be a resurrection! Look out Satan...you messed with the wrong girl! God bless you, Donna! See you!

It may or may not have been her, however the truck driver seemed very adamant that it was her that he gave a ride from Vail CO to Barstow CA. He even described her carrying a beat up brown briefcase in which is the only item missing from her car.

Folie, you can't post entire articles. Sorry, but the 10% copyright rule (which we're rather lenient about) applies the screencaps as well as copy and paste. You can paraphrase as much of the content as you like.

I used to have a WS account years ago but have not posted in years. I had to return because this one is very close to home. Devil's Alley is just 2 blocks over from me. My daughter and I take that route when we walk our dogs. Sadly, I have never heard of this missing person's case and I have resided here for 15 years. It was brought to my attention when my son asked me if I had ever heard of a woman that went missing in 1992. He said that he ran into a KATC reporter near our grocery store reporting on this case and a KATC helicopter was also flying overhead. I Googled Missing Woman in Rayne, LA 1992 and it led me here. During the time that Donna disappeared, this neighborhood was very safe. It was a very nice place to live. Praying that Donna's family finds closure in this case. She was a beautiful young woman with a bright future ahead of her.

Donna is still missing

a close one's story...I knew Donna Gonzales. She disappeared in 1992, ten years after we graduated. Her parents put up "Missing" signs in their yard on Cedarcrest Ave. that stayed there for years. Her mother kept a candle lit all the time. When those serial killers were caught years ago, her parents begged for information. It's heartbreaking...

I can imagine that in a dangerous job like going door to door you can always meet sick and crazy people... she must have seen something or been ushered into someone's house and attacked... poor woman...
whatever it was
rest in peace

This has troubled me for many years and I hope this case gets solved.
My friend Andy told me he was romantically involved with Donna Marie Gonzales at the time of her disappearance. We were living in Sunset, LA. I had been friends with him for several years and the week of her disappearance he came to my house and told me that he was engaged to Donna and had been seeing her for a couple of years and that they were supposed to be married but now she didn't want to marry him. He was visibly shaken and sobbing uncontrollably. Up to this point he had never mentioned Donna or the fact that he was romantically involved with her, and in fact, was dating another friend of mine at the time. So I was shocked to hear of this. He told me her name was Donna Gonzales (he did not use her middle name) and that she had recently moved back here from Iowa. He was in Seminary and she had been in a convent in Iowa. He then told me that he went and picked her up (he didn't say where but investigators told me they found him at her abandoned car in Rayne a couple of days after she went missing) and they went for a drive and stopped somewhere out in the country to talk. This is when she told him she wasn't going to marry him. He said they started arguing and he hit her with the back of his hand. I believe this conversation between us took place on a Wednesday afternoon. Friday afternoon he came back to my house and was literally freaking out. He said the police found him at her abandoned car in Rayne, that they were questioning him in her disappearance and that they searched his car and found blood on the front passenger seat. The blood was tested and it was her blood. He told the detectives that she was on her period but the location of the blood was inconsistent with his claim. The two detectives in Rayne verified this information in our first meeting. At first they disputed the validity of my story but after several meetings I was able to provide information that only they had access to and that Andy had provided to them under interrogation.
I was supposed to wear a wire and try to get him to confess. I called him to set up a meeting but when he heard me say her middle name "Marie" he got very quiet and said "what you know bout dat? I never told you her middle name" in a thick cajun accent. It was like I was speaking to a completely different person. He did not normally speak with any kind of accent. It sounded dark and evil and scared the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 out of me. Then he hung up and I was never able to contact him again. None of this information was ever disclosed publicly by The Rayne Police Dept. I truly believe that Andy has something to do with Donna's disappearance.
