Two weeks from the one-year mark of Erin and Callie Brunett’s murders, WWL Louisiana has obtained a timeline of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office’s effort to obtain an AMBER alert the day Erin and her sister were discovered missing. It details the delays that stretched the process into a multi-hour ordeal.

*****
WWL Louisiana reached out to former Sheriff Edwards, as well as the Department of Public Safety to ask why the timeline took so long to be released.

*****
Daniel Callihan, the man who confessed to killing the Brunetts, was found competent to stand trial in federal court earlier this month. His trial is scheduled to begin July 28.

After the federal trial is over, Callihan will still face state charges in both Louisiana and Mississippi. He could face the death penalty or life in prison.

A Louisiana man who admitted on live television to murdering and kidnapping a woman and one of her two children was in federal court Wednesday, where he changed his plea in the case.
He has now plead guilty.
