Some of the significant info:

"*When the SO processed the truck, they actually only fingerprinted the outside (no prints, smudges or smears), DNA swabbed the steering wheel/shifter/stereo, and vacuumed the driver floor/seat. When these items were submitted to the forensics lab, they would not take all the items to process. Sheriff Gibson is going to reach out to metro forensics in Lafayette to see if they could provide additional help for processing the items collected and print the inside of the truck. A known DNA sample from our grandpa was collected (toothbrush) so it can be compared against any DNA found at the scene, but with the current lab, the DNA results will take at least a year to get back

*We reviewed photos from license plate readers of the individual in the truck and there is no way to identify the individual driving the vehicle. The SO was not able to share the locations/times of 7 of the 8 locations the License Plate Reader’s picked up the vehicle. The private entity that owns the information does not allow the SO to share the information."

No it's not weeks after. The family depended on the sheriff's office from the beginning but have received no assistance from the sheriff's office.

This March 7th update states in part that there is reason to believe Mr. Gunnels may be a victim of a crime and they are fearful his attacker may be Phillip DeWoody. He was recently arrested for the disappearance and murder of an elderly woman in Opelousas, LA.

I also see in a March 8 post, they share a map with 3 locations that show why the family fears Mr Gunnel could have been a potential victim of DeWoody.

A few other details to note:
•Possibility JG was never at place where his truck was found (one footprint, no scent, etc)
•Reaching out for help from Alexandria PD & State Police
•Outside of truck fingerprinted; inside was swabbed for DNA..however, when submitted to the forensic lab they wouldn’t accept all the items
•A lab in Lafayette will help process items, but it would take a year to do so
•LE believes JG had to have stopped for gas at least once (based on miles/amount in tank)
•Video of truck’s path (after last license plate reader) was shared: hitting 699 at 11:28am; passing Crawfish Tub on hwy 92/13 at 11:42am; at end of Legros Rd at 12:04pm.
