APSO: Body found believed to be missing Alexandria man James Gunnels

Sheriff K.P. Gibson tells KATC his office was notified around 4 p.m. Tuesday that a local farmer and his employee found a body in a field. Deputies believe it to be the body of missing veteran James Gunnels.

The body was found just several hundred yards away from the truck belonging to Gunnels. The truck was discovered on Blue Jay Road in Morse on February 14.

The Acadia Parish Coroner has ordered an autopsy to confirm the identity. Sheriff Gibson said Gunnels' family has been notified.

Very sad news, but I hope it can give the family some answers.

Hesitant to post...out of hope...been in touch with LE and coroner’s office however we have not received confirmation that the body found is JG...we will update as soon as we have confirmation...

"confirmed... that is believed to be" what terrible writing on a sensitive subject. News agencies wanting to be the first to break a story and resort to misleading language and the ability to instantly retract stories online. Shameful.

The body found still has not been confirmed. No other msm has confirmed it either. The only one I have come across is the link @PommyMommy posted. IMO, I feel it will turn out to be him, but as of now I’m unsure where that news link got their information from.

Oh dear. You are absolutely right. I don't see anywhere else that the identity of the remains are confirmed to be James.

The coroner was able to confirm the body found was identified as JG.
Once the type of service is deciding upon by family, another update will be shared.
