YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY) — Police and family members are asking for the public’s help in locating a Youngsville teenager missing since Saturday evening.

Javion Batiste was last heard from at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. He was last seen wearing red basketball shorts and a white t-shirt. He drives a 2000 Buick Regal with the license plate 203 FOZ and visible damage to the front bumper on the passenger’s side.

Family members say his phone was last pinged in New Iberia.

This is not normal behavior for him.

If you know anything, please call the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office or 911.

Youngsville to New Iberia is about 15 miles.

Klfy 5pm news shows the family and friends searching in New Iberia. Mother is asking for prayers. The search is being conducted in sugarcane fields and an area of New Iberia that is filled with trash, broken-down cars, etc. I worked in New Iberia and did home visits in numerous areas but I’d be hesitant to go in that neighborhood. In recent years the town has had issues with drugs and gun violence.

His mother was able to locate the car by tracing the air tag left in his vehicle.

Jagneaux says when she found her son's car in a cane field, she immediately noticed something was not right.

"You can tell there was foul play, it's very obvious. You can tell that there was gun shots at some point," says Jagneaux.

A FB with only two posts, 2021 and 2019 - just curious, what is on the counter behind the person hidden behind the hat?

Article in OP says "On Monday, Batiste’s car, a 2000 Buick Regal, was found abandoned in New Iberia near Cobb Street and St. Jude Avenue." So I "drove" St Jude Ave on google maps to Cobb and wonder if this is the area they are talking about:

It looks like there was no crop at the time of the google capture, but I'm wondering if there is now and how high it is. Because - unless the car was over by the trees - the car seems like it would easily have been seen from the road.

Looks like life size Jenga. People write on them with markers around here. I’m an hour from New Iberia.

The sugarcane is pretty high. The grinding season usually begins in September. Tractors, trucks, and ATV's can only travel down the canebreak (road). The road is only dirt so if it's rained, a vehicle can get stuck and oftentimes it takes a tractor to free the vehicle.

Nichole Jagneaux's efforts to locate her son began on July 16 when she took to Facebook, appealing to her followers for any information about Javion's disappearance. The heart-wrenching post featured pictures of Javion and his blue 2000 Buick Regal, which was later found in New Iberia with some front-end damage.

Despite the discovery of the car, Javion remains missing, and Nichole's updates on social media reveal the emotional toll the ordeal has taken on her. On July 17, she expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, love, and support from the community, acknowledging that their faith was keeping her strong. However, the evidence found in the car did not provide much hope, further intensifying the need for information.

In her determination to locate her son, Nichole assembled a search party to comb the streets of New Iberia on July 18. Alongside her plea for prayers, she requested supplies like water and ice for the searchers, underscoring her unwavering commitment to leaving no stone unturned in her quest to find Javion.

Despite the emotional hardship, Nichole continued to update her followers on July 19, vowing to persevere in her efforts. Describing her son as a good child, she urged anyone with information to come forward, promising that her faith and determination would not waver until Javion was found.

Not identified yet, but it doesn't look good. I know the area well of where this body was located. There are cane fields on both sides of Landry drive to a certain extent. The good thing is there are quite a few businesses in that area that hopefully had camera's running.

There‘s a picture of where the body was found. It appears to be right at the edge of a cane field next to a headland. Not very well hidden.

Still unidentified.

I don't know the exact location on Landry, but I'm pretty sure it's S. Landry. It looks like it was a quick drop off. I'm not 100% sure, but they could have turned off Admiral Doyle drive and dropped the body off shortly after in that area and take off again. If the person(s) involved continued down Landry Dr. there should be cameras on some of the buildings, if they returned down Admiral Doyle in a certain direction, there should still be camera's somewhere. The footage needs to be checked ASAP either way.

You're right, Admiral Drive has lots of cameras, stoplights and street lights.

I just watched the news cast in my link and they say the body was found in the field behind Park Elementary school.

I was little off from where I thought it was, sorry about that. It's still close by where I thought it was, but on the other side of Admiral Doyle. I'm hoping there's still a camera that caught something.

I hope they catch whoever did this quick! It's so senseless for someone this young to be killed.

Rest peacefully, Javion.

Looks like trial was set for February 2025. Finding anything on Louisiana dockets is my personal kryptonite so I’m not sure if the trial went forward or was pushed back again.
