So in February I submitted a match for this Doe to be Phyllis Marie Corbin to NamUs and the LSU Faces Lab. I ended up getting a phone call from someone at the LSU Faces lab a few days after I submitted it and the idea that this is Phyllis is actually not so far fetched, as I got the idea that the LSU Faces lab had a suspicion that this might be her. I am friends with a family member of the Corbin family and they also called over to the LSU Faces Lab and they too got the idea that this Doe might be Phyllis.
The age range adds up and there's no evidence that Phyllis ever left Louisiana. In fact their is some suggestive evidence that she may stayed there and died in the mid 70s. This is where it gets convoluted, so the state of Louisiana found the remains in 1979, however, sometime in the mid 90s, likely around 98 or 99, the remains were cremated and the state lost the remains. However, they did cut out the mouth of this Doe so her Dentals are on file and the actual Mouth area was not cremated (mandible). However, efforts to obtain DNA has proven to be difficult as the LSU Faces lab tried in 2010 and 2013 to obtain DNA, but always got an incomplete set. Efforts are in the works this year to get a full set of DNA for this Doe. Currently the only exclusion is Mary Shinn based upon Dental Records. I did request records pertaining to this Doe recently however, no one has ever got back with me and all phone calls go to voicemail.
