LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - A woman's body is found south of DeRidder on Granberry road, at around noon. Investigators from Beauregard parish, and the FBI are working to solve this mystery.

"We received a call from a motorist about a possible body in a vacant lot, south of town," said Beauregard Parish Sheriff, Ricky Moses.

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - The identity of the woman whose body was found on Granberry road in Beauregard parish has been released. Sheriff Ricky Moses says the victim in the homicide is 27 year old Kimberly Ann Stephens of DeRidder.

The Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office says a preliminary examination showed the victim died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

Beauregard Parish Sheriff's detectives on Thursday arrested Billie Joe Weldon, of Pitkin, and charged him with the murder of Kimberly Ann Stephens of DeRidder.

Billie Joe Weldon, of Pitkin, has been sentenced the 38 years in prison, seven years suspended sentence, five years supervised probation and four years home incarceration, in connection with the death of 27-year-old Kimberly Ann Stephens...

He was tried on this charge in October, 2012; however, was convicted of manslaughter instead.
