Just for my own future reference: are people allowed to write their own case details on Namus? I think this is the first time I've seen info written from such a personal or subjective standpoint. Usually it's more third-person, like a news article.

Yes. Anyone in the US can submit a NAMUS missing person case, including family members of the missing person. NAMUS coordinators check with police to make sure the missing person has an open police report before the case goes "live" on the site for everyone to see but they don't usually edit the details given. The way it is written indicates that Michael's sibling must have filled out the NAMUS form online and submitted it. JMO.
