Found Deceased LA - Nathan Millard, 42, GA resident on business trip in Baton Rouge, last seen leaving pub, phone found, debit card used, 23 Feb 2023

Speaking from experience, the full effect of what you've been drinking while sitting down may not hit you until you stand up and walk down (or up) a flight of stairs (or in my case once, a hill).
If he doesn't usually drink, three beers could be to him as drinking six beers would be to some other guy his size.

Did anyone hear if Texas EquuSearch is out again today?

According to the new information which has been released, Nathan's card was used to make several small transactions at a Chevron station in the area. The only Chevron station within walking distance of the hotel/bar is at the intersection of St. Ferdinand & Government streets and is a block away from the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino Hotel -- I wonder if Nathan may have been trying to go to the casino?

Also, I'm confused as to where the "work site" his phone was found near is. His phone was found at Convention St. & N. 7th St. but I can't find anything remotely resembling a "work site" in that area on Google Street View. The street view is from January 2023, so it's possible work wasn't started until last month, but I can't figure out where.

I made a map to try and make sense of all the different locations:

The Exxon on Florida across from the Greyhound bus station used to be a Chevron. I don't know if that is why they're referring to it as that or not. The Chevron on St. Ferdinand and Government is so so sketchy so I hope that isn't where he was.

There is no work site at Convention and 7th but there is a small one at the corner of Florida and 5th. The amount of bad reporting and mixed information in this case is nuts. I wish BRPD would hold a press conference to clear up the misinformation.

The client seems to care very much. He was the first to ask for a welfare check.

Moo-

I find it very odd the client claims to have eaten and had beers at Happy’s from 9:30-11:30 when NM left. I’m assuming he is referring to himself when it comes to the beers seeing as how Happys has stated Millard was cut off due to his level of intoxication upon arrival and only served him water.

I am from BR. Have been to Happys multiple times. They do not serve food.

I dont even think they have a kitchen area equipped to do so even if they wanted to.

Is it possible they brought in food from elsewhere…. Absolutely.
Had they picked up food from somewhere else before? If so why would the client leave that detail from the updated timeline in the press release? Again. MOO. Just something about that doesn’t sit right with me knowing they don’t serve food.

That detail would also have most likely been added to the updated press release of NM’s last scene/gone to timeline which includes the Lyft ride to Happys which is why we now know he arrived there at 9:30pm. Not later which was previously reported.

So my question is…. Did they stop somewhere to get food before? If so where?

And have the investigators confirmed via Happy’s surveillance cameras that they did indeed eat the food purchased elsewhere in the bar and have beers?

If they didn’t eat.. which I’m leaning towards they didn’t….

Then why did the client lie about it?

Also If NM was cut off like the bar has said and just drinking water… what highly intoxicated adult who is wanting to drink More and being denied drinks… hangs around at a bar only serving him water for 2 more hours?

To be cut off from drinking means you asked for more and were denied what you wanted. Drunk people in general… do not respond well to this. Drunk people in general wanting to drink more… especially those past the level of making good decisions… tend to want to leave the establishment denying them drinks as soon as they are cut off.

They very rarely sit around and drink water watching their friend/client drink beers for the next 2 hours.

It’s much more likely and logical someone staying in a hotel only a block or two away… would just go back to their room and head to bed…. Or…. Leave the bar he’s been denied to drink at and walk to one of the other bars a few blocks away.

Again.. think logically about all the statements. All of the errors in the initial press release and reports… something is missing …. Moo…even the new updated timeline… something is very off logically about the entire night/case.

Including his level of intoxication the night before a very important early morning meeting his company flew him out to try and get the bid/contract for.

Is it possible he doesn’t drink often and had very low tolerance? Absolutely.

But if he was cut off by 9:30… it just makes me wonder if there was more than alcohol enjoyed that night? No judgement. Father of 5 away for the night, maybe he was very stressed out with work and wanted to add a little something with the booze to take the edge off and escape the stress of life for a night.

But again…. It just doesn’t seem logical the night before an important meeting.

It will be interesting to find out if he simply had a low alcohol tolerance, if he was drinking something harder at the game besides beer…. Or if they stopped somewhere before Happys and took shots of liquor?

Or was he slipped something purposely to impair his judgement purposefully and there is something more nefarious going on here.

Either way… if I’m an investigator I’d want to know these things right now.

1.) what was he drinking at the basketball ball? And how much?
2.) did they have cocktails or shots before or after the game? If so where? And what?
3.) does he regularly drink like this on business trips or at home?
4.) during 7:30 pm FaceTime with wife… did she think he was buzzed or on his way to being drunk. Because in less than 2 hours later… he was so drunk he was cut off by a bar in a town I have very rarely seen this happen in.
5.) what is his normal alcohol tolerance and how often does he drink?
6.) does he have a history of prescription drug misuse or drug use?
7.) who he texted or called last?
8.) why the client was so worried he didn’t arrive to 8:00 am meeting knowing how intoxicated he was the night before… most people would be worried yes.. but leaving the important meeting almost immediately to do a welfare check on a man you’re in town with for business and demanding a welfare check by 9:00 am is suspicious. Did he have a reason to be concerned something happened to him? If so, what was the reason?

I’ve been on a lot of business trips. Some included nights of drinking where co workers missed early morning meeting. My first thought wasn’t to do a welfare check… it was damn… they are going to regret that and I hope they don’t get fired for this. Second thought… I’ll go check on them after the meeting… but if I knew they took something other than alcohol, knew they went to meet up with someone / stranger for any reason…

Yes. Then I would abandon my meeting and request welfare check.

But only if I had information and reason to believe they could be in trouble or hurt.

Which is why I believe the client knows more. I do believe it’s likely he’s shared this with the police. Because I’m assuming they were also curious as to why he was so worried and called for welfare check at hotel so soon.

I realize completely I could be overthinking all of this and way off and misinformed on the details.

But again. Something is off with this disappearance and it’s hard to believe the robbery gone bad scenario.

Being from BR. Thugs rarely go to the effort to hide a body in an a robbery gone bad, crime of opportunity. They will kill you for $50 in your wallet yes… but it’s very rare they kidnap you and kill you and hide the body for an unplanned opportunistic drunk guy robbery.

The police absolutely know something the public does not. And so far the limited information given to the public … moo… does not add up all.

Something just doesn’t sit right with me about this case.

I pray for the family that he will be found safe. And I pray for the investigators working to solve this case.

It will be very interesting to find out what exactly happened and why.

The world is crazy so anything is possible.
Excellent! You’d make a great investigator!

"Worksite" is a stretch. They are currently redoing some sidewalks and crossings in downtown BR. The phone was found at the sidewalk being replaced along the park at 7th and Convention Streets where work has been going on for about a week or two and now wrapping up. It's not a big building construction site.

I'm not suspicious of the client yet. Adults drink or more and then handle themselves every single day. Especially I'm Louisiana. If he was drinking water for 2 hours, then there would be no reason to try to babysit a grown man. It's not the friends fault.

And yes. I have sat in a bar for hours drinking water after drinking too much. I wasn't cut off, but this is new orleans. You don't really get cut off. But I had plenty!!! And then I would switch to water. 1. I wasn't ready to go home, especially if it was early. Which it was for them. And 2. I might want to sober some before going home. I dont think water is a factor in him staying or going. Says to me that he likely isn't a belligerent drunk, demanding more alcohol.

I have no idea what is happening here. I have thoughts, but none of them involve the client, at this point. Mainly because HE was seen on video with the homeless guy. Not the client. He clearly left and didn't want to go straight home. This is a dangerous place, so what happened after that will hopefully be found out.

One last thought- purchases at the bus station could easily be vending machines or something. Doesn't have to be a ticket.

There's been discussion here as to how he could have become so intoxicated they cut him off at this bar, given it was likely he'd just have had some beer at the game. Two things come to mind. (1) he could be on prescription medication that would not interact with alcohol well. If he was on any type of prescribed opoid such as hydrocodone and oxycontin to treat severe chronic pain, even taking for a short treatment duration, mixed with alcohol can cause life threatening drowsiness. Drinking alcohol with anxiety medications or sleeping pills is also dangerous. Alcohol and these medications have similar effects on the brain and the combination raises the risk of dangerous side effects such as extreme drowsiness and slowed breathing. Examples of anxiety medications include: Lorazepam (Ativan), Alprazolam (Xanax), Diazepam (Valium), Clonazepam (Klonopin). Examples of sleeping pills include: Zolpidem (Ambien),, Eszopiclone (Lunesta), Zaleplon (Sonata). Heart medications with nitrates and some diabetes meds can also cause dizziness and drowsiness when mixed with alcohol. Some drug interactions may cause loss of some motor functions (leading to falls). His wife would know what he was taking and would have advised LE, if there were risk factors there. (2) I know several moderate social drinkers who will take a little "flask" to an event when alcohol is not readily available or is very expensive. So he could have consumed more alcohol than would be purchased at the game or might have been apparent to those he was with.
In any event, if he was impaired, even unintentionally, my concern is not so much that he was a crime victim as he would likely have been found by now, but that he went that block or two towards the river and ended up in the water. Praying for a positive outcome here, always.

So it’s been reported Nathan only ordered water at the bar as the bar refused to serve him upon observing him to have already been intoxicated yet the reason given for the client (who went from the game to the bar) with Nathan not leaving the bar with him was that he stood back to settle a tab. For… water? Or was the client the lone drinker? Does the bar serve food? I’m trying to comprehend how Nathan was apparently the only one of the two of them too drunk to be allowed to order a drink at the bar and if this was the case why the less intoxicated client thought it would be a good idea to head to a bar with a heavily intoxicated Nathan in the first place.

JMO. Not blaming anyone. Nathan is an adult and the client was by no means his guardian. I’m just trying to make sense of what’s been said.

Edit: I think I have my timeline wrong. I thought I read they went to the bar after the game but am now reading they pregamed at the bar ahead of the game and then returned to that same bar later that night… hmm.

They went back after Penthouse Club. At that point NM was denied service it sounds like. If you're asking me to bet where he got too drunk to be served between LSU basketball and Penthouse Club, I'm betting the latter.

This is very informative.

One question I have is - why did the client go to the job site without Nathan? They were staying in the same hotel, supposed to be heading to the same place at the same time as they were both in BR for the same purpose. Would it not have made more sense to head to the site for that morning appointment together?

I don’t think the client had anything to do with Nathan’s disappearance. I am just clearly very bothered by the minor and probably insignificant details of all of this lol

That certainly makes a lot more sense!

I didn’t even think college games served alcohol so reading here that they do was news to me lol

This clears up a lot of things:

- Nathan and the client went to Happy's before going to the LSU game

- After the LSU game Nathan and the client went to the Penthouse gentleman's club before taking an Uber/Lyft back to Happy's

- The homeless man referenced in earlier reporting actually directed Nathan to the ATM on Florida Street at the Greyhound station (presumably because Nathan was looking for an ATM).

- The earlier reporting about the homeless man using Nathan's card is inaccurate -- it was actually someone else seen using their own card (not Nathan's card).

- All of the activity on Nathan's debit card was done by him - either withdrawing cash or checking his balance.

- The next morning, after requesting a welfare check, the client continued to call Nathan's phone and someone answered and said the phone was left near the Post Office at Convention & 7th streets. The client then filed a missing person's report.

Well this explains the sat at Happys a while and ordered food to cover the time gap since they dont usually serve food other than popcorn. The client maybe didn't want to admit they had gone to Penthouse Club.
This could also maybe explain some of the ATM hits. Those from that night anyway.

It's only been a few years and is mostly beer/wine/seltzers. I have LSU basketball season tickets, I don't think I've seen an actual bar set up that he'd have access to. There is a premium club lounge for bigger boosters pregame and at halftime that might have a full cash bar, but he shouldnt have been able to get in there.

The ATM hits were all post Penthouse Club.

There are numerous ATMs between Happys and the Greyhound station, including one across the street from Happys at First Horizon Bank (between Happys and his hotel). The area eastward towards Greyhound gets rough... there's not much good to go seeking that way.

I wonder the amount of the withdraws. Multiple large withdraws or multiple smaller ones. Probably the latter.
