Police in New Orleans East found skeletal human remains near Irish Bayou on Wednesday, but they stopped short of saying whether they believe the discovery may be involved in the case of Jean Stokes, a 76-year-old New Orleans East woman who's been missing for two weeks.
...
The grisly discovery Wednesday came a little less than a day after Stokes' abandoned SUV was found Tuesday in woods at the foot of a grass levee on the edge of a New Orleans East neighborhood roughly 10 miles away.
....
Meanwhile, on Monday, another set of skeletal remains were found in the 15200 block of Chef Menteur Highway, or less than two miles from where Stokes' SUV turned up.

Were these remains ever identified?

Yes, those are the remains from the first link in the first post.

I can't find an update about the other remains, but since it appears to have been a suicide, it's likely there wouldn't have been a public announcement.

Rest in peace, Ms. Stokes.

Any further info on the small skull they thought could be a child's skull? It's frustrating that there are rarely any updates from the media on unidentified bodies found.

I'm not one hundred per cent positive but I think that the small skull is the one they identified as Ms. Stokes. The addresses are the same, as are the date found and the circumstances.

Who could do this to a 76 year old lady?? So sad. Has there been any info about the case? Are they looking for who shot her? I’m assuming not suicide since she as shot multiple times in her head.

The second decedent, with the noose nearby, isn't in Namus or anywhere else.
