"CADDO PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) Last Friday, the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled that jury selection in the first-degree murder trial of accused cop-killer Grover Cannon, would again be held in the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge Parish....

Hopefully, Caddo Parish has some deep pockets, as the Court’s last three-week junket cost taxpayers more than $90,000, and the next round stands to cost even more. ...

"SHREVEPORT, La. - Accused cop killer Grover Cannon could be one step closer to having a trial. What a judge decided that could have his case moving back to South Louisiana.

The Louisiana Supreme Court on Friday granted a change of venue for accused cop killer Grover Cannon.

The trial was supposed to start Monday in Caddo Parish after a local district judge in May moved jury selection from East Baton Rouge Parish.

"SHREVEPORT, La. – Accused cop killer Grover Cannon will go to trial this fall in East Baton Rouge Parish, according to an amended scheduling order Caddo District Judge Ramona Emanuel signed Friday.

Emanuel set a preferred date of Oct. 17, with an alternate of Nov. 7. Factored into the final decision will be a pending trial in East Baton Rouge Parish that’s set for Sept. 16.

The judge said if the other trial does not proceed as scheduled then Cannon’s jury selection will start on Oct. 17. If it does, then they’ll move to the Nov. 7 date.

A court hearing on the trial setting is set for 9:30 a.m. July 22...."

"BATON ROUGE, La. (KSLA) -Jury selection for the man accused of killing a Shreveport police officer will restart on Thursday, Oct. 17, in Baton Rouge with more than 500 potential jurors.

Dennis Moore an attorney with the Capital Defense Project spoke to KSLA regarding the jury selection pool.

Moore says he filed a motion last Friday to quash the jury meaning he wants the pool of jurors selected to be thrown out based on the current make up of the jury. Moore says he finds the selection to be unfair.

The motion hearing has not been set yet, but Moore believes it maybe sometime next week....

Once the jury is selected in Baton Rouge, the trial will be held in Caddo Parish."

Testimony began Thursday morning in Grover Cannon's murder trial in Caddo District Court before judge Ramona Emanuel and a 12-person jury, with four alternates, who were carefully selected over the past several weeks in Baton Rouge.

Cannon faces one count of first-degree murder in connection with the slaying of Shreveport police officer Thomas LaValley. LaValley was killed in August 2015 while responding to a family dispute call in the 3500 block of Del Rio Street.
