LA - Quawan Charles, 15, found deceased in field, left home with unk. woman, Loreauville 2 Nov 2020

Well, this article definitely seems to have some important details but I'm not able to read it.

It says that Quawan left later, alone. Did they say which day? Was it the same day they picked him up? If he left on the 30th then where was he for the next 3 days? Were the friends together Halloween night?

Jacko said Gavin asked Quawan where he was going and after that he disappeared. Did he ever give them an answer? Didn't they offer him a ride since he was about 20 miles from his home? Did he have a cellphone?

Why has the family seemingly disappeared? Very strange. Still so many unanswered questions. The Sheriff's Department may need to ask for help from the FBI in this case.
From the article:
Earlier this year, Quawan saved enough of his weekly allowance to buy a computer. He also had taken in a dog he named “My Baby.” Quawan’s devotion to the dog was so strong that despite having allergies, Jacko allowed it to join the household when Quawan moved in.

“That’s why, when Quawan came up missing, I couldn’t understand why he left the dog behind,” Jacko said.

Gavin, the 17-year-old who Quawan’s parents believe was among the last to see their son alive, gave Quawan the dog this year.

*****The article really doesn’t answer any of your questions except the cellphone one:

“Once this became public, almost every local news station said, ‘We had no idea a child was even missing,’ ” Haley said. He added that authorities hadn’t tried pinging Quawan’s cellphone until three days after he disappeared. “That’s how they knew where to narrow the search for him.”

Well, I guess it's a good thing they are not the Department investigating Quawan's death. I wonder if Breaux, the spokesman for the Iberia Parish Sheriff's office, Bureau of investigation, is the police chief? Does anybody know?
I got trapped between the QUOTE.

We reached out to the iberia parish sheriff's office, whose Public Affairs Director Katherine Breaux said she "can't comment on" that concern due to the investigation being ongoing. bbm

Thanks for all that. Sounds like Quawan did have his cell with him, unless it was found somewhere nearby. It's too bad they didn't track it right away. They might be able to get some useful information from it, like who he was communicating with and when it shut off.

I wish we knew which day he died. For some reason I feel like it was the day he went missing. The coroner probably has a good idea but I guess they aren't telling the family much about the autopsy findings. They apparently don't believe what they've been told so far. Hopefully the second autopsy will be very thorough.

I think they will eventually get to the truth of what happened. Kids don't usually wander off to a creek in a secluded area and end up drowned.

An independent autopsy by American Forensics of Mesquite, Texas, will answer that and other questions, he said. He said Charles’ body was sent there on Tuesday and he expects a report late this week or early next week.

Nelson said her family filed a missing persons report on Oct. 30 in the St. Mary Parish town of Baldwin.

Her son’s body was found the evening of Nov. 3 about 20 miles away near the Iberia Parish town of Loreauville.

Nelson said Thursday that sheriff’s investigators told her this week that her son drowned, but they also were waiting for toxicology test results.
Independent investigation demanded after black teen found dead in field with mutilated face - Magnolia State Live

Quawan “Bobby” Charles was at his father's home Oct. 30 when he apparently left with a 17-year-old friend and the friend's mother, both white, who showed up while the father was out shopping, according to Charles family members. But his family didn't learn that detail until three days later from a thirdhand source, an attorney for the family tells PEOPLE.

After his family reported Quawan missing Oct. 30, police in Baldwin first suggested to Quawan's family that he might have gone off to a football game, and questioned whether he had a troubled past, says attorney Ron Haley. Then they allegedly didn't try to ping his cell phone until three days later, says Haley.

The teen's body was found Nov. 3 in a sugar cane field near the village of Loreauville, about 25 miles from his Baldwin home, the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office said in a Nov. 5 news release.

Although authorities told the family that Quawan had drowned, the cane field holds a minimal amount of water, and the photo indicates additional injury to the victim, he says.

"Every local media outlet that I spoke with, that covers the Iberia Parish area, said that they did not even know a child was missing, let alone killed, until the family put them on notice," he says.

"A child was taken from, or last taken from, his parents' home without permission, and they report it to the police, and that's somehow not priority No. 1," says Haley. "That's mind-boggling to me."
Family of La. Boy, 15, Who Died Suspiciously Thinks Police Blew Off Disappearance Due to Racism

It is unclear if Bobby voluntarily left the home without permission or if he was unwillingly taken from the home.

The family said they reported him missing later that night after attempts to reach Bobby by phone were unsuccessful.
...
After the family approached law enforcement with this information, the Iberia Parish Sheriff's deputies discovered Bobby's body in a wooded area in Loreauville. The Sheriff's Office initially said his body was found on Nov. 2. A sheriff's spokesperson would later say his body was discovered on Nov. 3.

The family says Bobby's father was notified the night of Nov. 3, but his mother wasn't notified until the next day.
...
The preliminary findings of the independent autopsy are expected to be ready on Friday or Saturday, according to one of the family's attorneys.

"That's very encouraging," Trichell said in a phone interview Thursday afternoon. "It begs the question: If we hired a private autopsy well after he was reported missing and the preliminary results are already ready, that means the cops had their results and did not disclose them. That's what the timeline would suggest. This will tell us which questions to ask."
...
Although there has been little information revealed by authorities, the family has been getting information from a private investigator and the community.

Bobby's mom, Roxanne Nelson, was contacted by the mother of a mutual friend of Bobby's and the 17-year-old, according to Trichell.
...
The caller alleges that the 17-year-old, his mother and his stepfather were under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms when they picked up Bobby. The call was recorded and released publicly with the names redacted.

"It was totally out of the blue. That wasn't information she was aware of or even knew existed," Trichell said. "They reached out to Roxanne and said 'My son gave me this information. It was eating him up, and I wanted to tell you.'"

Others have offered tips to the family.

Neighbors reported that the 17-year-old, his mother and his stepfather allegedly packed their belongings in a moving van and left their Loreauville home earlier this week, Trichell said. It's been reported that the family has been asked to check in daily with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office.
...
"He didn't talk much to people," Celina Charles said. "He looked. He was always quiet. He liked to fish. He loved to ride his four-wheeler. He had a dog he was in love with."

Bobby purchased the pit bull, which he affectionately called My Baby, a few years ago from the same 17-year-old he was seen with the day he went missing, according to Charles.

Like the older teen, most of Bobby's friends were White, Charles said.

Quawan 'Bobby' Charles' disappearance and death: What we know

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/11/12/quawan-charles-death/

“Relatives described Quawan, nicknamed “Bobby,” as a quiet boy who loved animals and the outdoors. He was the youngest of Nelson’s eight children, finally on the cusp of outgrowing his baby-faced looks.

At 5-foot-7, Quawan had been trying to bulk up his slight 112-pound frame with weightlifting and peanut butter protein snacks. Jacko teased his son about his new habits, warning him, “Once you start, you’ll gain it in the wrong spots.”

Bobby had 7 siblings. He was a quiet boy.
Slight frame.
What happened to Bobby?

Autopsy results are "muddy water in lungs" and "no ante mortem injury". There is still a story here but murder doesn't appear to be the cause per the autopsy only.
Yes, if he inhaled the water from the creek it does sound like he drowned. There were no injuries inflicted before he died, but depending on how deep the water was it does appear to be suspicious. It doesn't sound like the type of environment someone would be swimming in. If someone was with him, they need to come forward or LE needs to find them.

We'll have to see what the preliminary findings are for the second autopsy. Sometimes pathologists discover things that were missed the first time. Toxicology results may take a couple of months.

We have a huge nutria population that lives in and along our waterways in south Louisiana.
Yeah, I've heard they can destroy sugarcane and rice crops.

I think the "disfigurement" or damage to the face that was described is typical for a body exposed to the elements for a few days. That's one reason I think Quawan died or was killed soon after he went missing. I wish we knew which day he left the friend's house. They didn't say anything about him spending the night or any nights at that house so I'm guessing he left that day.

And when did they move out?

And when did they move out?
It's not clear but apparently someone who knows the owner of the trailer park or community where they lived said they were evicted. That hasn't been verified by LE or any official but it was reported that LE was at the home on November 3rd and later that night they found the body.

It seems they moved out soon after that. According to one of the articles posted earlier they were told by LE they might be needed for further questioning, or something like that, but it's not known if LE is still able to contact them. If they went somewhere without informing investigators then it would look suspicious. Someone who has nothing to hide would assist them as much as possible.

So at this point they should be cooperating fully, since they admittedly were the last people to see Quawan.

IMO

Should toxicology reveal something like psilocybin from "mushrooms", and I have no idea that it will reveal anything, just musing, could there be a possible manslaughter charge? Truthfully, I don't think it would stick and it certainly won't bring this unfortunate child back. I was just wondering.

Video evidence shows Quawan "Bobby" Charles alone near the Loreauville location where his body was found Nov. 3, according to a statement released Saturday by Iberia Parish Sheriff Tommy Romero.

The statement regarding the investigation into the 15-year-old's death was issued "in light of the public interest into the circumstances."

Romero said he wanted to assure the public that IPSO is "following every lead, to gather evidence into what happened in the untimely death" of Charles.

"Any loss of life is a tragedy and that is especially true when it is a young person," Romero said. "Although we believe it is important not to compromise any part of our investigation, we are prepared to release some details so that the public can be assured we are not resting in our effort to find the truth."

"As soon as Charles was found,"We immediately began treating this as a homicide investigation," and deputies have since been "actively and aggressively" collecting evidence, the sheriff stated."

immediately?
that's not what was implied in the beginning
what was it that LE would immediately feel it was a homicide?
