''Many, Louisiana (KTBS) — The body of a Many woman gunned down 35 years ago as she worked as a clerk at a local convenience store was exhumed Tuesday in the hopes of finding new information that could lead to her killer.

The brutal shooting death of Rachel Sonnier Leach on June 8, 1986 has gone unsolved and haunted active and retired law enforcement officers who through the decades have been involved in the investigation.
It’s one of several Sabine Parish cold cases that are getting yet another fresh look. The Leach homicide has been revisited many times over the years, but never reached the point of an arrest.''
''Leach was just 20 years old when she was shot multiple times on a Sunday evening at a convenience store on Highway 6. She was eight months pregnant.

She was buried at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

That’s where Sabine Parish coroner Dr. Mark Holder and Dr. James Traylor, a forensic pathologist at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport, coordinated the exhumation and recovery of possible forensic evidence.

The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office and Many Police Department also are involved in the Leach investigation.''

ITA! A monster indeed.

Most of the folks who've commented on MPD's 2017 post speak highly of Rachel. She was loved dearly. I wonder if Many PD interviewed some of the people who commented, most especially:

TH - I wonder if she might have seen anything or anyone unusual while there. I also wonder about a case of mistaken identity given they both were pregnant and wore identical shirts that evening. For example, did TH happen to have a traffic dispute with anyone that day? Maybe that person saw her and/or her vehicle there then went back later to release their road rage, not realizing TH wasn't the person behind the counter. Who knows? We've seen weirder cases. IMO

AML - Perhaps she'd have some inside info about previous co-workers or customers. This might have been a robbery gone wrong or retaliation of some sort. Maybe she'd have some scoop on the in-house drama at the time she worked there. IMO, most, if not all, work places have drama.

I hope LE solves this case soon.
