Louisiana authorities are searching for a single gunman after two separate shootings in neighboring parishes left five people dead, including the suspect's parents. CBS affiliate WAFB-TV reports that detectives on Saturday were looking for 21-year-old Dakota Theriot, who is wanted for first-degree-murder, illegal use of weapons, and home invasion.

Authorities believe he might be heading to Mississippi, and that he is armed and dangerous.

Authorities believe there was a dispute of some kind involving his girlfriend and the other victims. His parents were shot in their bed this morning.

"Officials said that at around 9 a.m. Saturday deputies with the Levingston Parish Sheriff’s Office arrived at a trailer park to investigate a homicide and found that three people had been shot dead.

The victims were identified as Billy Ernest, 43, Tanner Ernest, 17, and Summer Ernest, 20.

Shortly after, officials with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office said they also were called to investigate a shooting and found Elizabeth Theriot, 50, and her husband, Keith Theriot, 50 deceased."

I wonder if Summer Ernest was the suspect's gf?

According to the Ernests' neighbor, two of the family's youngest children came to her home on Saturday morning looking for help.

'It's so heartbreaking,' Charlenne Bordelon explained to the Advocate, adding that the children were under the age of eight and in the home at the time of the killings.

Authorities describe the suspect as 'armed and dangerous'.

They think he may be heading towards Mississippi in a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck with license plate number C583809.

My guess is that he will be spotted soon, and will ultimately take the coward’s way out.

Hopefully he has his phone on him, so police can track him.

The Latest: Report says children fled from shooting scene According to this AP update, DT is "the older daughter's boyfriend". (according to neighbor). IMO-I take that to mean that one of the children who came to her door was a girl, so SE is probably the older daughter she is talking about. I have not read of any older children mentioned in articles talking about their family being murdered anyway.
