What do people think about MP4446 Kawana Lashan Holmes homeless 20yo last seen in West Palm Beach, Florida in May 1996?

I know Shreveport is a long way from West Palm Beach, but given Lawana was being compared to a set of AZ remains at one point, I thought I would mention it. There is no mention in any of her records of a history of travelling around.

Fits on height, race, scars on legs that would not be visible on this UID as remains were skeletal. Kawana does not appear as a comparison in Namus and her DoeNetwork file says Kawana has fingerprints on file but it is not known if either Dentals or DNA are available for her. The UID has dentals and DNA but obviously no fingerprints (skeletal remains).

Recon (left) and Kawana (right) - remember the Jane Doe's remains were largely skeletal.

Anything is possible. The time difference gives me pause, DN says JD was dead for less than a year, however the remains were skeletal so who knows how accurate that estimate is.

Maybe a stupid question but : when they found skeletal remains, are the hair still on the person ? Is there a way for investigators to know how their hair was styled?
Asking this bc there's a missing woman who, I think could fit the description of this UID, but she had dread locks at time of disappearance

Hi - please don't let a hairstyle stop you from considering/submitting a possible match :)

LSU says this Jane Doe was found wearing a red and white patterned top & skirt or dress. Does this mean there are no sleeves on the clothing item found with her?

I also am curious about the hair. The one person I wonder if she might be, isn't Black.

Can anyone find any news articles or press about this Jane Doe?

What about Melinda Felder? NamUs #MP73128

Both Jane Doe and Melinda Felder are 5'2 black women. Jane Doe is believed to be between18-25 and Melinda was 33 at time of disappearance but we've seen estimates be wrong before.

Jane Doe was found in Feb of 2007 and has an estimated Date of Death between 1-9 months prior to discovery. Melinda was last seen 7 months prior to Jane Doe's discovery. Lastly Melinda's Hair Description in NamUs is described in a similar fashion to what is depicted in the computer-enhanced facial reconstruction of this Jane Doe. As per NamUs, Melinda had Short hair had a reddish tint when she went missing.

Circumstances of Disappearance: Melinda left home to visit a friend and never returned home. The victim was known to leave and stay gone for weeks to months at a time but had always come back for her family

Looks like a good possibility @Aurora90

The same 4 MPs are listed as R/o to the unidentified remains, that were listed upthread in March 2022.

I submitted the tip! I also chatted with Whitney Williams, Melinda Felder's daughter. She doesn't think this recon looks like her mum but recognizes that its an ai generated image, so she also sent this possible suggestion to the new detective on her case.
