Such an awful tragedy that occurs much too frequently.

I remember reading an article about how easy something like this can happen, even to good parents-something about how your memory works regarding your usual routine, and when it is changed, how easy it is to forget that there is a child in the car. Most of the time I see this when the child is taken to daycare by someone else, who does not usually have the child in the morning, etc.
It is tragic for everyone involved.

The jury found Brumfield guilty of negligent homicide in the death of Winston White Hayes, who was left inside Brumfield's Saturn in the 600 block of South Scott Street for 8 hours on May 31, 2011, when the temperature reached 92 degrees outside.

Negligent homicide carries a maximum possible punishment of five years in prison.
