Lamar Odom fighting for life after overdosing at brothel

No. The grandmother who raised him died in 2003 I believe. I read earlier today that his son who died, died on the same day his grandmother did, three years later. How weird is that?

OT: I don't know if there is a term to apply to it, but this sort of 'date weirdness' or coincidence has shown-up in my life several times over the years. Among many, I discovered some years after my youngest brother's death that it had occurred on the same date as did our grandmother's 45 years prior.

If anyone knows the name of the term (which could also apply to what I call 'cluster birthdays' among friends & family), please post.

I'm sorry but when my mom was dying the only time I was on ANY social media was to update everyone out of state. It was a no brainer. To have to "decide as a family" not to post on your apps.. Smh.

I read the story of Lamar's being found/the 911 call and it reminded me so much of all the conversations we had about poor Jahi McMath. The "breathing" sounds, especially.

I've never seen the K show, I only know about Lamar because I live in SoCal and the Lakers are all news all the time.

After all the awful things that happened in his life, combined with so much money and adoration - so young! - and a man who fell in love with a woman who happened to have a TV show he found he couldn't be *on* for 24/7...I just feel deep sympathy for Mr Odom, his children, and all who love him.

My feeling is the same as with Bobbi Kristina. Huge wealth, huge adoration, huge expectations, huge media - for ordinary people who have never asked for it or been helped/trained to deal with it, combined with a family history of addiction and/or abuse.

Are we really surprised they are lost?

JMO....but they just launched those apps and people pay by the month for them. I'm pretty sure their fans expect new content every couple days, if not every day. I'm not disagreeing with you, I just think they felt the need to acknowledge this so people don't feel ripped off. Does that make sense?

I think it is unfair to say that the K family is 'only' famous for a sex tape. That is not really true. Kim , stupidly, made a sex tape with Ray J, when she was young and dumb. She grew up with Ray J and his sis Brandi, and the Jackson family. The K sisters grew up with the rich kids of celebrities and they mirrored and mimicked what they grew up surrounded by. And don't forget who their 'mom' is. Probably one of the most materialistic, shallow mother figures one could imagine.

Anyway, AFTER the sex tape, Kim worked very hard to try and be known for something more than that. She and her sisters are very hard working, brilliant business women. They have several successful business fashion enterprises that they created and run themselves.

I live in their little town and I know people that they employ. Many in our town appreciate the work they bring here.

Lamar was not 'duped' by Khloe. They were in love. He knew exactly what he was doing when he married into that family. His wedding was televised. It was a huge spectacle. No one forced him to do that.

I think it is unfair to make the K family scapegoats, for Lamar's own poor choices. They tried to help him get into and stay in rehab and treatment many times. Khloe stayed by his side for much longer than most would have stayed. He treated her horribly. Cheated with several women, drank and did hard drugs, lied, ran off for days at a time. And now she is blamed for his tragic situation?

People say " Lamar was such a private person and the show ruined his life.' If he was such a private person then why did he agree to have his wedding televised and his life play out on cable tv? Because he wanted to. He loved it and liked the attention it brought him. JMO

I think they might be referring to the apps they have that you can buy, not social media. Like there's some kim kardashian app game or something and I think they have others too. (I watched one of the recent episodes last night and kim k was complaining about how Scott wanted too much money than she was willing to give to be included in the app, or some nonsense like that)

I'm going to guess that the social media fans see, isn't the same social media they use to communicate with family and close friends. ??

Try going through awful things without money and adoration. Somehow I doubt it's better.

Exactly. They are brilliant business women and get little credit for their talents and hard work. I don't agree with everything they say or do but I will applaud them for their work ethic and business sense.

They have a huge social media following and business empire. I don't see anything wrong with making a statement to explain what is going on. JMO

ETA: upon rereading, it may seem that I am being critical of Lamar. And I don't want to do that as he is laying in a coma. I just wanted to bring a little perspective and balance back and not make the K family the scapegoats for his situation.

I hope it didn't sound like I was arguing or bashing them in some way. I was just saying that perhaps during this difficult time, they want some privacy and to not have to "work". I think they are obviously keeping in touch with close family and friends. Maybe they feel it's not right to announce to the world the specifics of what is happening with Lamar personally.

Either way to ME it seems wrong. Right now it should be about Lamar.

I wold actually applaud them for that.

Or perhaps this will be featured on their reality show.

I just wanted to speak up on behalf of ex'es who still care deeply for someone. I grew up w/ and a few houses away from my ex, sadly we ended up divorcing but remained on very good terms for our child. But we also had a connection that just couldn't be broken for a LONG time. We spent many evenings on the phone talking about everything under the sun. My mother battled disease for numerous years and every time she had a new development that wasn't good, he was the first person I'd call and make him promise me he would not let me "go thru her death alone." His own family was incredibly messed up and not supportive to anyone. I can guarantee you if something had happened to him, it would have fallen to me to be with him and make those decisions. And my decisions would be based on knowing what he would have wanted.
Just because you cannot stay married to someone does not mean you don't care for them/wish them harm. I hope Lamar makes it through this and truly believe Khloe loves the man.

Excellent post, and I totally agree.

Lamar never seemed to mind the cameras until he got traded from the Lakers. He has never been the same since IMO.

If there should be any shade right now I have it for this Brothel owner. He seems to be in CYA mode. Oh yeah no drugs allowed, yet the 2 girls elude to some cocaine use. This guy seems like a slimeball to me. IMO. Like he would kick out a high paying client because he "may" be getting high. Got on the airwaves ASAP. I think the K camp is circling the wagons and giving Lamar whatever dignity remains.

Oh, I should say so, of course with dignity. I'm mean who else other then the K Kamp would have released the information that there was an investigation to make sure LO was not overcharged, that money was missing and that info? Why would you give out that info prior to an investigation being complete if your motive was truth seeking? The media information that is being given out is such typical Kardashian style...and all these little dribbles like Kendall flying back from a shoot, Kim holding off on her baby shower, who paid for Lamar's family's tickets. If dignity is what you are aiming to preserve, you give a 2 sentence blurb, ask for privacy and call it a day...not churn up the publicity machine and let it crank all over social media. I think the K Kamp is pissed that this brothel owner is a publicity seeker (oh the irony) and would not let them control all info about this incident and this is how they retaliated. You know what I find appalling? A mere six weeks ago, Lamar's "wife" was screaming to the press that he had "ambushed" her at a nightclub and she was "so scared" she was considering obtaining a restraining order against him and her mother and sister were right there in agreement...just as they were when the two of them separated and a plethora of stories came out talking about what a crackhead he was, alleged cheating and how horrified their family was about it and how hard it was for them to have to cope. This family knows no limits when it comes to publicity and live the motto "any publicity is good publicity". I don't buy it for a second, I have no doubt if Lamar does not make it, the difficulty of widowhood will be the next storyline for them. Excuse my mini-rant.

I am not sure that is fair to say about them considering their family business is based on apps and social media. They cannot just stay silent and ignore their customers who have already paid for their content. JMO
