Lamar Odom fighting for life after overdosing at brothel

Since the TMZ article mentions his "fragile mental state", perhaps these recent surgeries were heart related.

This is an article from 2001, there is probably more evidence-based research out there now, but depression following open heart surgery is pretty common:

"There are no conclusive statistics about the incidence of depression after bypass surgery. Estimates vary widely from fewer than a third of patients to more than three-quarters. Some experts believe that the rate of depression after bypass surgery is much higher than that of other types of surgery, but not everyone agrees. "

Continued prayers for Lamar and his loved ones.

Could be why he was moved to an LA hospital. I sure wouldn't want to have surgery in Vegas if I could avoid it.

Both my lawyer (long-time friend) and dh are patients of a top cardio man at Cedars...the BEST! If I needed the same, I'd also go to L.A. for such care.

Did you live in Vegas at one time since you seem to know so much about the hospitals there?

http://m.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/nov/14/why-we-suffer/

Mediocre hospital care in the Las Vegas Valley, evidenced by thousands of preventable injuries, infections and deaths, can be traced to a few fundamental causes.

....

The shortcomings help explain the findings in the Sun’s two-year investigation, which identified 3,689 cases in 2008 and 2009 where patients suffered preventable harm while under a hospital’s care.

The mishaps included patients being infected with lethal bacteria, falling and breaking bones, acquiring gaping bedsores and being injured during surgery, including one patient who suffered serious burns after catching on fire on the operating table.

I don't' think Khloe has any ulterior motives in bringing Lamar back home. I'm sure Khloe had her mind made up when she was on the way to Las Vegas to be by his side. It would make sense for her to want to be back in her home when with Lamar is released to home. She can conduct her and his business there. Lamar has access to the best doctors and rehab facility that money can buy, and a nurse if needed. I wonder if Khlo would retro fit her home for a handicap person or buy/build one with room for a gym for in home rehab.

My nephew had two tears in his aorta ,had open heart surgery, and then a stroke the next day. They removed the right side of his skull because of swelling. It took about an two hours then eight months later then put it back, and that took under two hours, and went home the next morning. He has paralysis on his left side but can feel, he also has PBA. He might be lucky that he doesn't lose his hearing or sight.

Pseudobulbar affect (PBA), emotional lability, labile affect, or emotional incontinence refers to a neurologic disorder characterized by involuntary crying or uncontrollable episodes of crying and/or laughing, or other emotional displays.[1] PBA occurs secondary to a neurologic disease or brain injury. Patients may find themselves crying uncontrollably at something that is only moderately sad, being unable to stop themselves for several minutes. Episodes may also be mood-incongruent: a patient might laugh uncontrollably when angry or frustrated, for example.

They've said that he has brain damage, they just don't know how much. As his brain heals, they maybe find more neurological defects. I know that it's confusing that Lamar's aunt is saying how good he's doing, but what is coming out is he is starting to lose some ground.

This marriage is doomed, imo. You don't call off your divorce because youe ex was found half dead in a brothel after a drug binge. JMO

And btw, I believe they truly loved each other when they married. But it seems like a toxic relationship, imo.

I saw a meme that said "Congrats to Lamar Odom: first man in history to use cocaine and hookers to save his marriage!"

I despise the whole prostitution industry as it further degrades women as objects. Most women in that position have been victims of abuse as children.

This guy is a vulture. He said he was not going to pay the girls. He cannot be out much money in his lovely Motel 6 type setting.

He should send Lamar a gift for all of the publicity his operation is getting. Lots of businesses give freebies to stars because of the publicity they generate.

I'd be asking for an itemized account and drag all of them in for a deposition, Lock in what they're gong to say, and ask the purpose of photos of Lamar passed out and others. Blackmail would be on the top of my list. Especially if they signed an agreement about confidentiality. Just about everything of his stay has been reported and told by the owner and the hookers, so Khloe hold your head up, it's not the worst that could've happened to him. I'm sure she's forgiven him. Time to move on pass that dirty little secret since it's out in the open.

I wish they would do this for others. I have a sweet darling friend who is a mother who is preparing for transplant.

I have no problem donating a kidney to whoever needs one. The DH and I were having a discussion about kidney donation just last week.

The owner said HE wouldn't pay them because he believes they broke rules.
He never said HE didn't get the money from Lamar.
He gets paid then pays the girls and he won't pay them.

That doesn't surprise me from what I have read on here. He seems shady. I had hoped that the charge wouldn't have been billed out
until Lamar Odom left. But I am willing to bet it went through the minute Lamar signed it. If it was a visa or mastercard payment could it not
have been flagged and stopped? My guess is that "they" didn't break the rules. Lamar was staying in this mans personal space from what I heard.
That man had more to do with this then he is saying in MOO. If someone came to your home and was doing drugs I think you would know it... and it seemed he was trying to hide the fact that drugs were used, read the 911 transcript, he denies it then a little later on he says one of the girls told him Lamar had done drugs before coming, then it comes out she seen him shooting up! LIES i tell you....

He should not take the money.... a man almost died.... the best thing for him to do is to put that towards the hospital bill. Not that they can't afford the bills... but come on. Where is the human decency? (this is just my opinion) Not a fan of either Odom or KUWTK.

What the heck??? See he wants the money, but won't pay the girls. I know they chose this path and I don't condone it but these girls from what I read
are mistreated... they need to get out
