I don't think they can arrest her based on hearsay from the landscaper. They need some sort of evidence to issue an arrest warrant.
Ah...true, and it sounds like she dummied up pretty quickly when the landscaper and an UC approached her recently, so nothing on tape.

I need more coffee. This is a lot to process so early in the morning.

maybe they haven't arrested her because they are trying to figure out if she is communicating with "someone" about Kyron....

I was thinking that too...maybe LE has her bugged, GPS'd, watched...the WORKS... and they are hoping for more evidence and mostly to find sweet angel Kyron.

They can afford to wait to arrest her now that Kaine and his daughter are "in hiding" and safe.

Of course this comes out at 4:00 in the morning and no one is around to talk to about it!
This answers the questions as to why the restraining order. It also says that Kaine was not home when 911 was called last week.
I don't know if it's true or not but it sure raises more questions then ever. If it is true then Terri is much more unstable then previously thought. And why would she want to get rid of Kaine? I dismissed the specuation that she was having an affair but this really opens up that possibility. And why would she get rid of Kyron if it was Kaine that she wanted to eliminate? Can this situation get any stranger?

Holy. ****

I am sure that LE has proof, or they wouldn't have even told Kaine. I want that proof that he wasn't lying.

Agree...Bet he passed a polygraph.

OK..5 months ago...how does that time relate to when her son moved out of the home to live with the grandparents....I'm getting the feeling that his moving out and the reasons behind were are the catalyst to this request and Kyron's own disappearance.

Yep. I do think J's situation ties into all of this.

Question: Why didn't the landscaper come forward to the cops 6 to 7 months ago telling them that about this murder for hire scheme? It could've saved Kyron's life.

Good question.

Wonder if he's more than just a *landscaper* ?

What are the snuggie pics.?

In the photos from last Christmas, it shows the family all smiling and wearing snuggies. It's a cute picture.

How do we know he didnt go to the police when Kyron first went missing?

Honestly, I'd bet that he did. Plus, if it were true that the reason Kaine left/filed for a divorce/took his daughter/filed a restraining order were all because he found out about what the landscaper said.. I'd imagine that means this has all been going on for a few weeks now, and media just got word.

I just logged on hoping to see some good news. I admit I was really leaning toward Terri not being responsible for Kyron's disappearance. Are we allowed to say holy $%!t ?!?!?!?

I can't think of anything thing to do/say that doesn't involve multiple cuss words and lots of :banghead::banghead:

Good point. If an affair can tie into this at all, it would make any motives for this case really pop out.

Well, let's see. First of all, I imagine this man is not the "landscaper". I imagine he is a lover and his presence at the house was explained that way - Terri "hired" him without consulting Kaine. I don't think he was mowing just the lawn, if you get my drift. You don't approach your landscaper to do murder for hire - you approach your lover. That also explains why this "landscaper" did not report her to the police.

My guess is that Kyron knew something he was not supposed to know about this "landscaper" and that is why he had to go. The question now is, Did the landscaper help Terri do away with Kyron?

MOO and all that.

I really wish another news source would pick up this story, however my gut says they were all told at the press conference and told to SHHHH. Oregonian was kicked out, and made no promise to keep quiet.

This is so not the news I thought I would find on here this morning. Holy Insanity, Batman. I need about another 6 cups of coffee, spiked WITH something to even begin to know what to think.

Why would she want to off Kaine? And then, if she didn't do it because she didn't have a taker in the landscaper, what made her change her plans to get rid of Kyron?

I had it in my mind that she sent her son off to live with his grandparents because SHE wanted it to just be the "perfect little family" of her, Kaine and Baby K. So now, to find out she was trying to get rid of Kaine...well, that points me in the direction of an affair. And maybe when the gardner didn't go for the offer, she went with getting rid of Kyron first, figuring she could go back and rework the plan to kill Kaine later, after things died down?

But if that was the case, why not continue to try and get rid of Kaine, then when he was gone, Kyron would have to go back to Desiree and Tony and she could go on to live with mystery man and Baby K.

Hmmph.

Off to get another cup of coffee.

What the eff?

How do you approach someone and say "hey, ya know, I'd like my husband dead. If I gave you some money, do you think you could kill him for me?".
I have to wonder what kind of a relationship she had with the landscaper.
How close were they? Were they close enough to have these private conversations? And if they were, were they close enough to have an intimate relationship?
And if they had an intimate relationship, what does that have to do with Kyron?

Forgive me, I'm brainstorming. I didn't read any other replies. I'm just flabbergasted.

For what it's worth...I'd imagine Terri must have been a lot closer to the landscaper than just a hired employee in order to approach him with such a task.

How do you hire a lawnman and your husband not know?
Only come between certain hours on certain days?
Not sure how that works.

"Terri Horman retained prominent criminal defense lawyer Stephen Houze on Wednesday. Repeated attempts to reach Houze, who was on the East Coast, were unsuccessful."

www.oregonlive.com

What timing! Terri's lawyer is out of town and cannot be reached for comment (when the biggest story yet breaks)?

I hope she has his cellphone number, she's going to need it.

I could be wrong but I thought the Oregonian was let back in...JMO

I'm waiting for Fox 12 to come on here locally, to see if they say anything..
BTW, the comments piling up below the story on oregonlive.com are getting interesting as us west coast peeps are just waking up here. =) (Except Dairygirl.. who found this story! )

This is probably a dumb question, but does a grand jury have to indict someone before they are arrested? And if that answer is yes, how long does that process take? Just wondering if that is why no one has been arrested....

I don't know if this has been answered for you yet. Yes, some states require a Grand Jury to take place and rule on indictments. Oregon does use Grand Juries, however the DA can file an information with the court and then a warrant can be issued and they may never need a Grand Jury.
